Starz has released the first teaser for the second season of Ash vs Evil Dead, the series that serves as a sequel to the Evil Dead movie franchise and features Bruce Campbell reprising his role as reluctant demon hunter Ashley “Ash” Williams. Although the franchise has a reputation for over-the-top gore, even veteran fans might be surprised by how much blood flies around in the teaser’s 40 seconds of fresh footage.
Planned as another set of 10 half-hour episodes, the second season also brings back first-season cast members Lucy Lawless (Spartacus) as Ruby, Ray Santiago (Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell.
With Ruby in possession of the Necronomicon as the second season begins, Ash is forced to leave his favorite place in the world, Jacksonville, Florida, in order to deal with an evil entity that’s made his former hometown of Elk Grove its new gateway to the human world.
Among the new cast members joining the series in its second season are The Glades actress Michelle Hurd as Ash’s high-school girlfriend, Lee Majors (The Fall Guy) as Ash’s father, and veteran Evil Dead franchise actor Ted Raimi as Ash’s childhood friend.
Franchise co-creator Sam Raimi continues to serve as one of the executive producers on Ash vs Evil Dead. He and Chuck and Workaholics producer Craig DiGregorio are the series’ showrunners. The series will return to Starz network in October.
