There’s smattering of little interface changes to go along with the myriad bug fixes. The Edge browser now has a quick link to the extension store, and the Cortana shortcut in listening mode has been changed to prevent accidentally calling the personal assistant.
Apart from that, most of the bug fixes aren’t critical ones, just little oddities like media player controls for settings windows, or toggles not appearing correctly with high contrast mode on. Interestingly, the update contains a fix for the Surface Book that was causing display orientation issues when connecting to external displays.
The new build isn’t without its issues, though. The blog update notes that some users may see a notification telling them the evaluation copy will expire on July 15th. It urges users not to worry –the dialog is a glitch and the OS won’t expire.
Like the other recent Insider builds, this one is also rolling out to Windows mobile devices. There are similar bug fixes and improvements there – nothing critical, although there is a note about improved battery performance for users who quickly unlock the phone to check the lock screen. Edge for mobile is also having some issues with PDF support where pinching or scrolling will reload the file instead of operating correctly.
Software engineer and Windows Insider Program lead Dona Sarker closed out the blog post by noting that “it’s feeling like ship season around here.” We’ll continue to keep you updated as Redmond puts the final touches on the long-awaited Anniversary Update.
