In a brief scene that was inexplicably left on the cutting room floor, African superhero Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) has a short but loaded verbal exchange with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), the superhero spy known as Black Widow. It’s a scene that packs quite a narrative punch — if not a physical one — and serves as a nice reminder of how formidable of a character Black Panther can be.
Premiering in theaters May 6, Captain America: Civil War pit the heroes of Marvel’s cinematic universe against each other in an all-out brawl over the issue of government regulation of masked heroes.
Along with Captain America star Chris Evans, the film also featured Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Falcon, Don Cheadle as War Machine, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Bettany as Vision, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man. Along with featuring the debut of Boseman as Black Panther, Civil War also offered the first look at actor Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man.
Captain America: Civil War was directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo from a script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
The film arrived on Digital HD, Digital 3D, and Disney Movies Anywhere on Friday, and will be available September 13 on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD, and On-Demand.
