'Mafia III' PC version will test the limits of your GPU at its maximum settings

Publisher 2K revealed its targeted PC system requirements for Mafia III, giving players an idea about the hardware horsepower needed to render developer Hangar 13’s latest open-world epic.

While the game’s minimum system requirements are fairly tame, players may need to invest in an upgraded GPU to get the most out of their trip to New Bordeaux.

Similar to Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series, 2K’s Mafia III features a mixture of open-world exploration and third-person shooting mechanics wrapped up in a crime drama narrative. The latest game in the series takes place in New Bordeaux, a fictional take on New Orleans, and its 1960s-era setting introduces period-appropriate background music and weaponry.

PC players may already have the hardware necessary to run Mafia III at its basic settings, as the game demands an Intel I5-2500K or AMD FX-8120 CPU at a minimum, with either a Radeon HD7870 or GeForce GTX 660 equivalent tackling GPU duties. Mafia III also requires a 64-bit version of Windows 7, 50GB of hard drive space, and 2GB of video memory to function.

Open-world games are often demanding at higher resolutions and graphics settings, and Mafia III is no different. Publisher 2K recommends an Intel I7-3770 or AMD FX 8350 4.0 GHz equivalent in terms of CPU horsepower, while a Radeon R9 290X, GeForce GTX 780, or GeForce GTX 1060 are required for max settings.

Players seeking to render Mafia III at its best possible quality will also need 8GB of RAM and 4GB of video memory, according to 2K’s pre-release estimates.

Mafia III is set to be the biggest entry in the series, and 2K is preparing a special collector’s edition for die-hard fans. Players who pick up the collector’s edition at launch will receive an art book, a set of replica dog tags, drink coasters, and collectible art prints as part of the package, along with copies of the game’s score and official soundtrack on vinyl records.

Mafia III launches for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms worldwide on October 7.

You're given a good bit of leeway during battles in Baldur's Gate 3 before you or a companion actually bites the dust for good. While in battle, if a teammate does take enough damage to drop, they aren't dead then and there. Instead, they will be downed with a chance to roll every turn to get back up. If they roll successfully three times, the battle ends, or you use another character to pick them up, they're good. If they fail that roll three times, however, they will be completely dead. That can be harsh when you've become attached to certain characters and want to further their stories, so you'll be looking for any way you can to bring them back. Thankfully you do have a few options for reviving companions in Baldur's Gate 3, but just like respeccing, they aren't so obvious.
Pay Withers to bring them back

Withers is a friendly undead you can find in a secret room in the Dank Crypt found inside the Overgrown Ruins. After finding and speaking to him in his sarcophagus, he will offer you various services, one of which is bringing back any dead companions. He won't do this out of the kindness of his heart (probably because it isn't beating) and will charge you a heavy fine of 200 gold to do so. Still, that's a small price to pay to bring back a beloved character. Once paid, that character will appear in your camp where they would normally be, so there's no need to go back to their corpse and find them.

Unfortunately, it will no longer make PlayStation VR2's February 22 launch and will instead be released on March 16. On Twitter, a message from Supermassive Games says this delay will ensure that players "receive the most polished, terrifying experience possible" at release. The game was released on that date to mixed reviews.
