The Xbox One S is Microsoft’s cleaner, svelter take on its almost three-year old Xbox One console. As we noted during its debut this summer, it’s a one-stop solution for everything from gaming to TV. Deals on this system are rare, but Dell Home currently offers the Xbox One S 500GB Halo Edition Console with a $50 Dell gift card for $300. Amazon and Best Buy offer the same bundle, sans the $50 gift card, for $300.
The new Xbox One S fixes a lot of gripes we had with the original console. For starters, it’s about 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, which makes it about an inch shorter and a few inches narrower. The power supply is now internal and the console ditches the previous model’s touch-sensitive front panel buttons for physical buttons that are easier to find and use.
The new console also packs 4K and HDR support for Blu-rays and streaming, whereas the Xbox One remains stuck at 1080p. The 4K support doesn’t have an impact on games, but instead means the new console is capable of native
The console also has a few other tricks up its sleeve. For instance, Microsoft’s updated Xbox app now lets you buy games digitally on your PC and have them ready on your Xbox One S console. Cortana is also accessible via the new console and you can expect further integration between Windows 10 and the Xbox One S in further software updates.
Gamers should also take note because this bundle comes with The Master Chief Collection alongside Halo 5 — an excellent starter bundle for any gamer. It gives you the entire catalog of the best console shooter ever made. However, what makes this deal extra noteworthy is the addition of a $50 Dell gift card, which you can use to buy anything you want at the Dell Store, and with many Xbox titles comfortably under the $50 mark, that shouldn’t be hard to use.
