Who will Lucille take down in ‘The Walking Dead’ premiere?

Spoiler alert! Those who aren’t caught up on season 6 or season 7 rumors continue at your own risk!

For more than six months, fans have been agonizing and theorizing over which cast member will meet his (or her) end on the seventh season premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead. We discussed the topic back in March just prior to the frustrating season six cliffhanger episode.

But much has changed since then, and many new theories and clues, whether legitimate or intentionally attention-diverting, have arisen in the lead-up to the premiere that may have you questioning your original choice. One thing that has been confirmed: it definitely isn’t Rick (Andrew Lincoln), as the latest teaser shows Negan taunting him immediately following the kill, fresh blood, presumably from the victim, visibly streamed across Rick’s cheek. But the other 10 are still fair game.

For the record, this writer thinks the victim will be Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), followed by Glenn (Steven Yuen.) Yes, two people will meet their end, a theory that has been posited by other sources as well. Most recently, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Negan, essentially confirmed there would be multiple victims at the hands of Lucille, though he didn’t clarify who. Abraham and Glenn both work as logical and expected choices, and either as a second kill would maintain the element of surprise the show thrives upon.

But that’s only a theory. There are still eight others who’s heads are literally on the chopping block. Find out why (or why not) each is likely to be the one to come face-to-face with Negan’s bat Lucille. Who do you think will be the victim(s)?

The season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead airs on AMC Sunday, October 23 at 9 p.m. ET. A week prior, on Sunday, October 16 from 9-11 p.m., AMC will air a two-hour retrospective on the show.

During the first part of the season, Eugene's group made their way to the Commonwealth, a supercolony that resembles life before zombies overran civilization. Unfortunately, the Commonwealth has a darker side that gets explored in the trailer. The Commonwealth provides a good life for anyone in a position of power. But anyone who causes too many waves will be cast out.

Ratings for The Walking Dead aren't what they used to be, but that isn't stopping AMC from launching a third series set in the world of the hit zombie survival drama.

The still-untitled series will follow two female protagonists as they attempt to live in a world filled with threats -- both human and zombie -- around every corner, and will unfold in the same universe as the network's two existing series, The Walking Dead and and Fear the Walking Dead. AMC released a set of six photos from the series ahead of its panel event at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, October 5.
