What makes the new Dave Jr. so strong? It comes down to the design details which include only the most rugged materials and a long line of prototypes that put the developing bag through the ringer. The bag is made from a military-grade tarpaulin that is double-layered for additional strength and protection from the elements. The bottom of the bag, which takes the bulk of the abuse, is covered with a SuperFabric, a patented material that coats fabric with ceramic armor plates. This arrangement protects the bag from scuffs, scrapes, and tears. It also adds a water- and stain-resistant surface that keeps the bag looking good while it protects your precious cargo.
Amabilis may emphasize the rugged materials it used to create its duffel, but the company didn’t forget to add some sweet features to its bag. Accompanying its tough exterior is a reinforced handle grip and an adjustable shoulder strap pad for easy carrying. There also a zippered outside accessory pocket and a full-length YKK zipper that provides easy access to the contents of the bag.
The Dave Jr. measures 18 inches by 20 inches when expanded and offer 23L of internal carry space. If you need more than what is provided in the main bag, Amabilis also is selling a compatible organizer bag and stash capsule that gives you a bit more room for your stuff. Amabilis is using Kickstarter to sell its Dave Jr. with pricing starting at $110 for the duffel alone. The company also is selling the duffel in a bundle with the stash capsule and organizer for $140. If you just want the stash capsule to hold a first aid kit, concealed weapon or other small items, you can grab one for $29. Amabilis intends to ship the bags by April 2017. As of the writing of this post, the company has raised more than half of its $15,000 goal.
