Liu He from China certainly did, as he’s just entered the record books using one to do the most turns in 60 seconds.
Breaking his own record – and possibly almost his back, too – the Beijing resident recently spun through the air a dizzying 33 times in quick succession as a large crowd looked on during the special event in Shanxi in the northeast of the country.
After reviewing his effort, adjudicators from Guinness World Records judged that Liu had successfully performed a total of 29 complete rotations, beating the record he set last year by two full flips.
As the video shows, Liu performed strongly throughout the entire minute, nailing a complete turn every couple of seconds while at the same time ensuring his breakfast stayed firmly inside his stomach. In fact, the main issue seemed to be ensuring the water-firing hose didn’t become tangled up as the record attempt progressed.
Liu first claimed the back flip record in 2015 when he performed 27 turns inside a minute. That was one more than the then-record holder Franky Zapata, the very man who invented the water-powered Flyboard machine used in the record-breaking stunt.
Apparently having given up trying to reclaim the record, Frenchman Zapata later turned his attention to building the awesome Flyboard Air, an extraordinary contraption that really does hover.
Zapata even used his creation to secure a brand new record for himself, traveling a colossal 2,252 meters (7,388 feet) at a height of about 15 meters (50 feet). Perhaps Liu will try beating that one next.
