BioLite spreads holiday cheer with a limited edition camping gear kit

Still wondering what to get the outdoor lover on your holiday list this year? Or, better yet maybe you’ve got all of your shopping done and are ready to treat yourself instead? If so, BioLite has put together a special package containing some of its most popular gear that it is currently selling at a substantial discount. But if you want to take advantage of this bundle, you’ll have to act fast. It’s only available for a limited time.

Over the past few years, BioLite made quite a name for itself by designing a number of outdoor products that are both innovative and fun. The company burst onto the scene in 2012 with the introduction of its CampStove, which eschewed traditional camp fuel options in favor of renewable energy sources such as wood. The innovative stove is capable of not only cooking your dinner but converting the heat created by the fire into thermal energy that can be used to recharge mobile devices via a built-in USB port too. Later, BioLite went on to introduce other products designed for use around the campsite as well, including several accessories for the stove, an array of lighting solutions, and a line of solar chargers.

Now, the company has taken seven of its most popular products and bundled them together to create the BioLite Holiday Faves Kit. The special package includes not only the aforementioned CampStove but also the FlexLight, KettlePot, and the StickSnapper accessories, all of which make cooking on the stove much easier. The kit also features three lighting options as well, including the PowerLight and PowerLight Mini, as well as a set of SiteLights, which can be strung about the campsite. And as if all of that wasn’t enough, BioLite is also including a limited edition stuff sack — in the form of a holiday stocking – to store everything in as well.

Normally, if you were to purchase all of that gear separately it would cost $325. But, the Holiday Faves Kit can be had for  $250. That means you save about $75 while scoring some great outdoor gear at the same time. There is, of course,  a catch, however. To take advantage of this offer, you will have to act fast. BioLite is only offering the bundle until December 19, after which it disappears forever. Or at least until next Christmas.

Goodbye, coolers. The EcoFlow Glacier doesn’t need ice — it makes it
The EcoFlow Glacier is a fridge shaped like a cooler with its own battery,

Every cooler operates on borrowed time. It leaves for your camping trip brimming over with crisp produce and ice-encrusted beer that looks straight out of a Super Bowl commercial, and returns with a soggy block of foil-wrapped cheddar cheese floating in a pool of mustard water. Mother Nature always wins.

Perhaps that’s why I was so enamored when I saw the EcoFlow Glacier at CES 2023. Less a cooler than a mobile battery-powered fridge on wheels, the sleek electric Glacier not only obviated the need for ice, it would make ice for me in 18 minutes. My home fridge can’t even do that, and I didn’t even know I wanted it to until just now. When EcoFlow offered to let me try the Glacier, I envisioned sipping a perspiring glass of whiskey in the tropics and accepted the occupational hazards of my job.

I was wrong. E-bikes are so practical, they’re a transit cheat code
An Aventon Level 2 ebike sits outside a grocery store.

Confession: Despite loving both bikes and gadgets, e-bikes never excited me. Compared to my bicycle, e-bikes seemed unfair. Compared to my motorcycle, they seemed slow. Compared to my car, they seemed impractical.

But with $1,500 federal e-bike rebates potentially on the horizon at part of E-Bike Act, I decided it was past time to reconsider. Not just because 30% off would make them way more accessible, but because the entire idea that e-bikes could be worthy of a rebate changed the way I looked at them: less as toys, more as transit. Had I written off an entire way of getting around because I was looking at it the wrong way?
