Huawei Honor Note 9 won't have a headphone jack, according to new leak

The Huawei Honor Note 8 was launched in August 2016, so it’s about time we start hearing rumors about a follow-up — the Huawei Honor Note 9. Well folks, based on what we’re hearing from the rumor mill, the Honor Note 9 is shaping up to be quite a device.

As rumors trickle in, we’ll continue to update you on all the latest information about the Honor Note 9. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming phone so far.

Design

The latest leak pertaining to the Huawei Honor Note 9 actually comes in the form of an image that claims to show the back of the phone — and if it’s accurate, the Honor Note 9 could be an absolutely mammoth phone. The image comes courtesy of GizChina.

Not only can we see that the phone is big, but the photo also makes clear that the Honor Note 9 will feature a dual camera on its back — unlike its predecessor, the Honor Note 8. The back also houses a fingerprint sensor and a dual LED flash.

The photo also shows that the device will have a full metal body — which is great for those looking for a durable device. Given the fact that there’s a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, we can also assume that we won’t see any hardware buttons on the front. Hopefully that means it will have a large display.

The latest report from The Tech Point certainly suggests a large display, as per leaked images of the Honor 9 in its black color variant. And not only will it be big, but it’ll be headphone jack-less, much like the iPhone 7. So if you’re looking to plug your earbuds into a 3.5mm audio jack, you better look elsewhere.

Specs

Unfortunately, we don’t yet have any solid leaks about the specs of the phone, but we can make a few assumptions — namely that the phone will feature a new Kirin 960 chip. It’s also expected that the phone will feature a 2K display, although we’ll have to wait until we hear more rumors or until the phone is released to confirm that.

We’ll update this post as we hear more on the Huawei Honor Note 9.

Realme recently announced the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro, which would launch on January 4 at 9 a.m. IST (10:30 pm ET). The GT 2 Pro would be the first smartphone with an ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 150-degree field of view. It would also have a "fisheye mode" to make photographs more appealing. While the GT 2 series would launch next week, they would not be the only smartphones from the tech giant to be released in the first quarter of 2022. A leaked listing on Aliexpress has revealed the Realme 9i, which is expected to launch in China in January 2022. There have been suggestions that the company is working on several smartphones in the Realme 9 series, such as the Realme 9, the Realme 9 Pro, 9 Pro+, 9 Pro Max, as well as the 9i. Meanwhile, 91mobiles has also confirmed via a tipster that four of these models would be launching in India over the final week of January/early February, which would be spread over two launch events.

The Realme 9i seems to be a budget device, similar to the 8i from the Realme 8 series. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor and would be equipped with 4GB of RAM. Its 6.59-inch LCD display would have a 90Hz refresh rate, with a resolution of 399 ppi. It would have a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50MP wide-angle primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide angle, and a 2MP depth camera. Meanwhile, the front camera would be a 16MP sensor with Full HD video recording at 30 fps. The dual NANO-SIM smartphone would have 128GB of storage space, which would be expandable up to 256GB. Finally, the 5000mAh battery would have 33W of fast charge via a USB Type-C port. Considering that the Realme 8i with its 4GB RAM+64GB space and the 6GB RAM+128GB versions are currently priced at $173 and $200 respectively in Asian markets, the cost of the 9i should hover around that mark.

OnePlus 9 Pro shown from the back.

You can now try a beta version of OnePlus’ Android 12-based OygenOS operating system, provided you own a OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro. The latest OxygenOS 12 software contains various new features and design updates, plus it integrates Oppo’s ColorOS codebase, as revealed earlier this year after OnePlus and Oppo announced a closer working partnership.

The user interface has been given a visual overhaul. The design has been created around the use of light and shadow, which apparently increases ease of use and readability. More specifically, OnePlus says simplified icons and typography, along with more subtle gradients and the use of shadows, will help the software be more relatable and inclusive. It goes as far as calling OxygenOS 12 will a “safe and chill place.”
