Jay Z will headline Meadows Music & Art Festival, and Tidal will live-stream it

Not many things induce the fear of missing out more than a really good music festival lineup. This year’s Meadows Music and Art Festival, held annually in Queens, New York, announced it will be headlined by Jay Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Gorillaz. The only way to live-stream the festival will be on Tidal.

This year, Meadows Music and Art Festival is packing Citi Field with performances from Nas, LL Cool J, M.I.A., Weezer, Run The Jewels, Future, and dozens of others. The Tidal live-stream will feature performances from all four stages of the concert, but the press release announcing the festival lineup did not specify if only select performances from each stage will be streamed.

This is only the second iteration of the Meadows Music and Art Festival, which debuted last year, but the first time it will be live-streamed. Last year’s festival only offered live audio streams of select performances. This year’s festival will also expand from the two-day affair of last year to three days, and will happen in September instead of October.

Hopefully, this year’s festival runs a bit smoother than its inaugural showing. Kanye West was one of the headliners for last year’s festival, and had to unexpectedly end his performance earlier than scheduled last year to tend to a family emergency.

Jay Z’s history with Tidal has been marred by unimpressive subscription numbers and a problematic launch event. But, it has been the undisputed king in live-concert streaming since it launched. Tidal has been the only place to watch dozens of concert live-streams, including Chance the Rapper’s Magnificent Coloring Day concert, the last two Made In America festivals, as well as Prince’s 2015 Rally 4 Peace concert; his last live-streamed performance.

This year’s Meadows Music and Art Festival takes place September 15 through 17 at Citi Field in Queens, New York. Tickets go on sale May 10 at the festival’s official website.

General admission tickets for all three days range between $275-$305, before fees. If spending a monthly grocery budget on a festival does not sound appealing, Tidal is your best shot to witness this star-studded affair.

Dolby Atmos Music will make its streaming debut on Amazon Music HD
what is dolby atmos music and how to get it mobile

Dolby Labs has been teasing us with Dolby Atmos Music for years. We've known for some time now that the surround-sound format used to create immersive movie soundtracks can also be used for music recordings, but being able to actually hear music recorded in Atmos has been very hard. Soon, however, that's about to change in a big way. Dolby confirmed it partnered with Amazon to bring Atmos Music tracks to the company's recently launched Amazon Music HD streaming service, which will mark the first time we'll be able to stream Atmos Music online.

The partnership between Amazon and Dolby is about giving Amazon's latest smart speaker, the Echo Studio, a big bang of a launch. The $199 Studio is not only designed to deliver 360-degree sound thanks to its cylindrical shape and speaker placement, but it's also the first wireless smart speaker that works with so-called 3D digital music like Atmos Music and Sony 360.
