Your mobile office has never looked so stylish. That is because your newest mobile office just may be your handbag. Meet FYB London, heralded as the maker of the world’s smartest handbags and your new get-out-of-work-early card. Featuring wireless smart device charging, bio-lock security, Bluetooth proximity alerts, and “enough organization to rival a mobile office,” this company’s products promise to be as efficient as they are chic, and want to apply those same adjectives to you.

The FYB London Smart Handbag collection is clearly designed with mobility in mind, providing you with the energy you need to charge all your electronics (though sadly, you can’t plug yourself into the 5,000 mAh charging pocket when you are in need of a pick-me-up). With padded laptop and tablet compartments, in addition to several other organizational pockets, you can keep all your devices and documents within reach.

And don’t worry about prying fingers making their way into your handbag. FYB promises that all its products are protected by a Transportation Security Administration- accepted biometric recognition lock, which means you and only you (or whomever else you allow) can access the contents of your tote. But for convenience’s sake, you can easily unlock your bag from your phone thanks to Bluetooth connectivity and this same connectivity will alert you if you happen to leave a business meeting without your trusty sidekick.

All FYB London Smart Handbags are made with premium leather and come in either a city bag or tote style. With more than two weeks left in the campaign, the handbags have raised more than double their goal and are nearing $75,000 in funding from 265 backers. If you’re interested in getting in on the action, you can pre-order a London Smart City Bag for $259, or a London Smart Travel Tote for $293. Both products are expected to be delivered by August.

Homey probably works with all your smart devices. And it respects your privacy
Homey Bridge box, smart home, control, universal

Anyone who’s ever added smart home devices to their house knows you need to choose wisely, since some smart home gadgets don’t mix so well with certain digital assistant devices or some kinds of home hubs or bridges. There is a device, however, that aims to link disparate smart home gadgets and systems together and get them all working in sync, regardless of brand or technology. Meet Homey.

Homey is a new-to-the- U.S. smart home ecosystem that uses the Homey app to connect and control different smart home gadgetry while connecting everything to the Homey Bridge. It debuted at CES 2022 this year.

Your Whirlpool smart oven can now act as an air fryer, too
The Whirlpool Smart Oven line is getting an air fry mode.

One of the major perks of smart home technology is that you don't necessarily have to buy a new appliance to get new features. Whirlpool made that all the more obvious at CES 2022 today when the company announced a software update coming to the Smart Slide-in Gas and Electric Ranges, as well as the Smart Single, Double, and Combination Wall Ovens through an "instant over-the-air upgrade." Imagine that: A software update that adds the functionality of a completely different appliance to something you already have.

The addition of the air fry functionality isn't all that Whirlpool smart ovens are getting, either. They'll soon be able to connect to the Yummly smart thermometer. This might seem like a minor update, but there's actually a lot of functionality packed into the smart thermometer, too. The thermometer's app has a lot of recipes packed in, and it can start preheating your oven based on which recipe you're using. The thermometer can connect to your smartphone from up to 150 feet away and can guide even the most inexperienced home cook toward a delicious finish. If you're not confident in the kitchen, the main thing to remember is that heat is your best friend and your worst enemy. Too much heat and you burn your dish, but too little and it comes out gross. A smart thermometer can help zero in that Goldilocks temperature.

Abode has announced two new additions to its existing lineup of smart home products at CES 2022. The Abode Wireless Video Doorbell beams live 2K footage to your phone, or to the cloud with a subscription plan. It boasts full-color night vision, wire-free installation, and two-way audio.

As you would hope, the doorbell is certified to weather the outdoors with an IP65 waterproof rating. It comes with a companion Chime device to act as the bell indoors. On the software side, the Abode Wireless Video Doorbell is able to differentiate people from other kinds of movement, which can help you triage notifications appropriately. This capability is expected to expand to pets and packages in the future.
