Here is everything you missed from the first ‘Destiny 2’ gameplay demonstration

Destiny 2 is shaping up to be a bigger, deeper, and more action-packed game than its predecessor. In the game’s first official gameplay demonstration, Bungie and Activision showed it will be the perfect shooter for nearly every type of player.

In our first look at the game’s campaign, “Homecoming,” a huge surprise attack by the Cabal and the game’s main antagonist, Ghaul, sends humanity and its Guardians into a state of panic. The first mission is full of the “wow” moments we have come to expect from Bungie and we got to see a few new Guardian “super” abilities, including the Dawnblade, which launches flames at enemies on the ground, and the quick-moving Arcstrider staff.

Designed to be a great experience for solo players, Destiny 2 includes far more cutscenes than the original game, and a “Guided Game” system will allow lone wolves and clans — now officially supported in the game — to team up for strikes and raids. When exploring planets on your own, non-player characters will give new missions that will have Guardians searching for hidden treasure and defeating bosses in side missions. All of this must be done while fighting an uphill battle — Guardians’ powers have been taken away by Ghaul, and Bungie said that Destiny 2 is a story of “loss” and “recovery.” The story will take Guardians across the solar system to the Jupiter moon Titan, the planetoid Nessus, and the “European Dead Zone,” where humanity has begun to rebuild itself.

Those more interested in competitive multiplayer will also have plenty of new content. The Crucible has been redesigned, with all modes using a four-versus-four structure, and it will introduce the series’ first attack/defend mode, called “Countdown.” With the introduction of clans, even those who aren’t particularly active will have a chance to get rewards, as certain activities will earn rewards for every member of a clan.

Destiny 2 launches on September 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with the PC version available exclusively through Blizzard’s Battle.net service. A beta will take place this summer.

After a brief introductory sequence showing how each of the playable characters, referred to as Slayers in Dead Island 2, end up on the doomed evacuation plane at the start of the game, you are forced to pick who you will play as. If you hadn't played the first game -- and considering it came out over 10 years ago we wouldn't blame you if you hadn't -- then you may not know that your choice of character is more than just cosmetic. Each of the six playable Slayers not only starts off with its own stat distribution from the others but with two ability cards as well. In a narrative sense, almost nothing is different depending on who you pick, so this decision all comes down to choosing the right character for how you prefer to play. Don't let the excitement of bashing in some zombie heads rush your decision and first make sure you understand just how important this choice is in Dead Island 2.
Can you change characters in Dead Island 2?

This is the main reason your character choice is so important. In Dead Island 2, once you choose a Slayer, you're locked in for the duration of the game. If you want to try out a different character, you will need to start the game over from scratch, so unless you're okay with undoing all your progress, or want to do a second playthrough, give this decision a good deal of thought so you don't have any regrets.

Given how impressive Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice was, it seemed inevitable that there would be a sequel. The game, despite being made independently by Ninja Theory, blew even the highest-budget games on the market out of the water in terms of graphical fidelity and storytelling. Microsoft must have realized this potential as well and outright purchased the studio to not only provide a bigger budget to the team for the eventual sequel, but also tosecure it as a console exclusive for its then-unreleased Xbox Series X and S systems.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 was one of the earliest games shown off for the Xbox Series X and S, and was even initially thought to be one of the system's launch titles. That didn't come to pass, but the team has taken that extra time to craft this sequel into something that looks to be even more impressive than the original. In the surge of survival games that flooded the market around the time of Minecraft's release, only a few were able to carve out an audience and survive. Those that did were the ones that had strong mechanics, lots of content, and a unique spin on the world. Ark: Survival Evolved was a little late to the party in some ways, hitting early access in 2015 and fully launching in 2017, but it was a hit right from the start. That was, of course, thanks to the key feature of the game: dinosaurs.

Ark 2 is a rare sequel to a game that typically tries to simply build on and expand a base game with constant updates. However, a sequel was not only announced but also has the involvement of none other than Vin Diesel himself.
