'Rampage' takes its toll on Dwayne Johnson in bloody new on-set photo

Dwayne Johnson just does not stop. Even though July 4 was a holiday, the actor took the time to promote his upcoming video game-inspired action flick, Rampage. He did so by sharing a new on-set photo on social media, one in which he looks a little worse for wear.

In the photo, posted Tuesday on Johnson’s Instagram account, he sits alongside what seems to be a U.S. military aircraft. It has clearly been a long day for his character, given the dirt all over him and the bloody wound on his head. Yet, battered as he may be, he doesn’t look defeated. Johnson’s caption underscored that; he quoted the Dylan Thomas’ poem “Do not go gentle into that good night.”

Johnson also tied his post into Independence Day and showed his gratitude to the entire crew for putting so much effort into the film. Their task isn’t easy: Video game-inspired movies have often proven to be big letdowns for fans in the past. They hope to buck that trend with Rampage, which takes a classic 1980s arcade game and gives it a plot.

From what Johnson has revealed over the past several months, we know that his character heads an anti-poaching unit in Rwanda and has a close bond with a gorilla. When his primate pal and two other animals are infected with a serum that makes them aggressive and dangerous, a rampage ensues. Naturally, it is up to Johnson’s character to save the day.

The film has a lot of promising elements so far. Not only did Johnson sign on to star in it, the cast includes Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike), Malin Ackerman (Showtime’s Billions), Naomie Harris (Moonlight), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (AMC’s The Walking Dead), among others. The project also boasts director Brad Peyton, who teamed up with Johnson again after their work on the 2015 box office hit San Andreas.

Johnson has been teasing the movie throughout their time filming. He has been generous with on-set photos, showing off the cast and technology bringing the story to screen. The movie is not due out till 2018, so we are enjoying his updates while we wait.

Rampage is set to take over theaters on April 20, 2018.

The Riddler defiles The Batman’s new character posters

Spider-Man: No Way Home hasn't relinquished its hold on the box office yet, but there's another superhero epic waiting in the wings. Next month, The Batman will reboot the Dark Knight for a new generation. And the title hero isn't the only one who has been re-envisioned for this film. Paul Dano's Riddler has been completely reconceived as a Zodiac Killer-like figure, and he has some deadly plans for Gotham City.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released four new character posters from The Batman. And in keeping with the Riddler's creepy new vibe, all four pics have been defaced with his symbols as well as his promise to "unmask the truth." First up is the Riddler himself.

In just over a month, a new era in Gotham City will begin in The Batman. Director Matt Reeves' film will take a new look at Bruce Wayne's early years as the Dark Knight by forcing him to live up to his reputation as "the World's Greatest Detective." However, Bruce may not be the only one looking for answers in Gotham.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new poster for The Batman that features Bruce Wayne (Robert Pattinson) and his alter ego surrounded by the film's three antagonists: Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, and Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. It also strongly hints at a trail of destruction left in Bruce's wake.

The Matrix Resurrections’ new trailer has a lot of déjà vu

In the original Matrix film, déjà vu was just a glitch that teased trouble ahead. However, the new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections uses déjà vu as a tool for anticipation. As another sci-fi franchise once said: "This has all happened before, this will all happen again." This notion was even set up in the previous films, when Neo learned that he was in the sixth iteration of the Matrix. And now, it appears that he is about to enter the seventh incarnation.

The new trailer reunites Neo and Trinity, even if they don't immediately recognize each other from their previous lives. There's also a new Morpheus who offers the familiar choice between remaining in the fantasy of the Matrix or embracing the harsh reality outside of the system. We've also assumed that Morpheus was a reincarnation of the original, but perhaps he is the son or grandson of the Morpheus we knew and loved. If Niobe's aged appearance is any indication, the events of The Matrix Revolutions happened decades ago. And a new war between man and machine is about to begin.
