LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ vacuums your floors and keeps quiet about it

LG Hom-Bot Square Robotic Vacuum
As any homeowner knows, dust and dirt can collect fast. However, not every homeowner has time to vacuum as often as they would like to. Instead, many have turned toward robot vacuums to get the job done. With the latest LG Hom-Bot Turbo+, consumers are getting a robot vacuum that’s quieter and smarter than ever before.

All three models of LG‘s robot vacuum come with Wi-Fi connectivity, home security settings, and the quietest motors around. Owners can take control of their Home-Bot Turbo+ with their smartphone, or with voice command for the flagship gold model. Using the LG SmartThinQ app on either Android or iPhone, the Hom-Bot can be accessed from anywhere and use up to seven different cleaning modes.

With the premier gold model, owners also gain access to the LG HomeView feature. Using two front-facing cameras, owners can view and vacuum their home with live-stream technology. Additionally, LG HomeGuard uses motion detection to automatically snap images of moving objects. This allows homeowners to rest easy while on vacation. If there is ever a real security concern, users can make an emergency call straight from the companion app.

“LG Hom-Bot is the perfect partner in keeping a tidy and secure home, offering the convenience and performance of thorough cleaning functionality, along with the added security benefit of keeping an eye on the home, kids and even pets,” says David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA.

For more effective cleaning, the new LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ models use a slim and square design. This allows it to get into tighter spaces and corners to brush away dust bunnies. The design also helps absorb more vibrations from the motor, making it one of the quietest robot vacuums around. LG boasts that it only reaches 60 decibels on non-carpeted floors.

When mapping the room, this little vacuum uses the Dual Eye 2.0 mapping system to scan ceilings, walls, and floors. This allows it to better remember a room’s layout, making it more efficient each time. LG Hom-Bot automatically kicks into turbo mode when it detects carpeting. For hardwood, tile, or stone, users can use a slide-in dry mop cloth.

The LG Hom-Bot Turbo+ is available now at select retailers in the United States with full availability rolling out in early fall 2017. The device comes in three different colors with varying features. Ruby Red features Wi-Fi, Dual Eye 2.0, and six cleaning modes for $699. For $799, Ocean Black adds an extra cleaning mode. And Metallic Gold is the flagship model with HomeView and HomeGuard for $999. Check out local retail availability on LG’s website.

A clean home is more important now than ever before, and LG has taken to CES 2021 to debut its brand-new self-emptying stick vac: The LG CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+. This is an upgraded model of the A9 Kompressor that features a charging stand that not only powers up the vacuum, but also empties out the dust bin. When the CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+ is docked, the dust bin is automatically emptied into an attached bag. After it is emptied, the vacuum continues to charge.

Aside from the obvious benefits of self-emptying, the docking station also provides efficient storage space. The CordZeroThinQ A9 Kompressor+ includes six different accessories and attachments, all of which can be stored within the docking bay. The 2-in-1 Combination Tool, Crevice Tool, and Pet Nozzle fit within the docking bay itself for a more streamlined appearance. You can also adjust the docking bay's settings directly through its touch display. It is narrow enough to fit in almost any space and can be tucked away when not in use, making it perfect for almost any size home.

Should you be worried about cameras in robot vacuums?
Roborock S6 MaxV front view

Just before CES 2020, I predicted we would a rise in the number of robot vacuums with built-in cameras. While the notion has been around for a while, it’s only recently that cameras have been used for object recognition/avoidance and home security. The Roborock S6 MaxV, Trifo Lucy, and Deebot Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI are perfect examples of that. Previously, cameras were used to map out rooms for improved cleaning efficiency, but they’re increasingly being used for much more.

In the modern world of smart devices, you can automate nearly any part of your day. Robot vacuums can clean the floor. Smart dishwashers can turn on when you leave so you have clean dishes when you come home. Now, even mopping can be taken care of by automatic devices.

No one really enjoys mopping. It’s a time-consuming chore, and even though products have come along over the years to speed up the process, no floor is ever cleaned as much as it should be.
