Apex Legends leak reportedly reveals skills of Loba, the rumored next character

The next character coming to Apex Legends is rumored to be Loba, and a dataminer has apparently discovered her skills in the battle royale shooter’s code.

Loba is believed to be the little girl in the game’s Season 4 launch trailer, the daughter of Portuguese con-man and thief for hire Marcos Andrade who was assassinated by Revenant. The trailer ends with a shot of the little girl crying over the body of her dead father, so her story is likely a tale of revenge. She received a silver wolf figurine from her father in the trailer, and the feminine version of “wolf” in Portuguese is “loba.”

Dataminer iLootGames, after the launch of Bloodhound’s Old Ways event, combed through the new files that were added to the game, leading to the discovery of the first look at who is believed to be an all-grown-up Loba.

The dataminer also discovered in the game’s code four abilities that are in the works for Loba, complete with names and descriptions. The leaked abilities are:

Burglar’s Best Friend: Throw a disc and teleport to that location
Supply for Demand: Hold to choose a type of loot. Reveal that type of loot in the area around you through walls.
Eye for Quality: Loba can see nearby loot through walls and can sense when loot bins have a hidden compartment with valuable loot.
Black Market Boutique: Place a device that can steal all nearby loot.

iLootGames believes that Burglar’s Best Friend is Loba’s tactical ability, while Black Market Boutique is her ultimate skill. Meanwhile, the assumption is that developer Respawn Entertainment is currently choosing between Supply and Demand and Eye for Quality as Loba’s passive ability, as the function of the two skills are similar.

Loba is expected to arrive to Apex Legends in Season 5, though iLootGames found code that she may be teased within the current season, which ends on May 5.

However, while iLootGames has been a reliable source of information from Apex Legends code, there is still no guarantee that Loba will indeed be the next character in the game, especially after Respawn pulled off the ploy of making a fake character to misdirect dataminers after they found Revenant too early.

Apex Legends Mobile doesn't hold back in terms of the weapons it offers. All of them will be familiar to fans who have poured hours into the original Apex Legends, but since this isn't just a straight up port of that game, not all guns will be as useful, or as bad, as they once were. Of course, balance changes will be a thing in Apex Legends Mobile, but for right now, these are the best weapons in the game you should seek out when looting.

While it's similar to the base game, the differences here are substantial enough to make even the most experienced Legends stumble a bit when sliding into this portable battle royale experience.

You will need to get a handle on more than just the new controls when acclimating to Apex Legends Mobile, and if it's your first time getting a chance to experience this free-to-play, class-based take on the battle royale genre, then you have even more onboarding needed before you can call yourself a true Legend.

Apex Legends Mobile isn’t a great fit for small screens

Apex Legends is one of those multiplayer games I love, but am terrible at. When I was invited to a press demo for the game’s limited-time Control mode earlier this year, I was thoroughly embarrassed as my peers routinely downed me with a headshot from across the map. I’ve always wanted to play it more than I do, but I never felt cut out for the twitchy world of PC players.

Apex Legends Mobile solves that issue for me, though it creates some new problems of its own in the process. The standalone mobile version of the battle royale hit more or less feels like a one-to-one adaptation of its bigger counterpart (the most notable difference is the number of pop-up notifications trying to nudge players to the shop). That means I can fully enjoy the shooter in a more casual portable setting, one free from the mouse and keyboard crowd.
