Fall Guys cross-platform support: Everything we know

Fall Guys set itself up for success by launching for free on PlayStation Plus, but the response has been even greater than developer Mediatonic could have expected, especially with the game going free to play on all consoles. As one of the most-played games on both console and PC, as well as one of the highest-viewed games on Twitch, Fall Guys is a bonafide viral hit.

Initially, Fall Guys was restricted to the PS4 and PC, with no cross-platform support. Thankfully, Mediatonic has addressed cross-play with it arriving on all modern platforms. Here’s everything we know about Fall Guys cross-platform support, cross-saving, and split-screen multiplayer.

Is Fall Guys cross-platform?

Fall Guys Race Start

Yes, Fall Guys now has full cross-platform support for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Epic Games store. Being free to play, as long as you link up your Epic Games account, you can play with friends no matter what system they’re on.

Cross-save and cross-progression

Cross-progression was in the works for a long time but has finally arrived. Now that Fall Guys uses a singular Epic Games account, so long as that account is linked on the platform you’re using, all your progress, cosmetics, level, and everything else will seamlessly follow you from one system to the next. You won’t have to worry about not having your favorite look available, no matter what platform you’re playing on.

What about split-screen?

While Fall Guys would be one of the best in-person party games around, it doesn’t support split-screen multiplayer as of right now. If split-screen does become available down the road, Fall Guys could become an all-time great party games, akin to the Mario Party or Jackbox Games series’.

However, thanks to the game being free and on every console out there with full cross-play support, it isn’t as much of a bummer considering how accessible the game is. Even if you can’t play at the same time, Fall Guys is great to play with friends because everyone needs a cheerleader!

Is Saints Row cross-platform?
Saints Row characters on top of a movie theater with guns.

We've come to the awkward point in the gaming industry where most games of a certain size include some form of cross-play, cross-progression, or both -- but not all. High budget, multiplayer focused games, and especially free-to-play titles, are almost expected to have all these features now, but there is still some slack when it comes to indies and mid-sized titles. With a game like Saints Row, which is somewhere between a middle and high budget game that is still coming to all consoles and PC, it could easily go either way with how this game would handle its online component.

Saints Row has a campaign that is fully playable in co-op with a friend. With the entire game's thesis built around chaos and creating your own dynamic fun in the reactive open world, bringing a friend along is an obvious way to amplify that fun. That said, it's always a bummer when you stop and realize that you and your co-op partner of choice are playing on different platforms and don't even know if you'll be able to rebuild the Saints together. If you want to know if you and your friends can build your criminal empire together on different platforms, here's the answer.

Is MultiVersus cross-platform?
Shaggy, Superman, Tom & Jerry, and Wonder Woman prepare to fight in MultiVersus.

Gaming has come a long way since the days of locking multiplayer games between consoles, PC, and even mobile. It wasn't that long ago that if you wanted to play an online game with your friends, you all had to be playing on the same system. Now, however, more and more titles are embracing the cross-platform future in which it doesn't matter where you own a game. As long as you and your friends all have it, you can match up regardless of whether you're on PC or console.

MultiVersus is not only a game that heavily relies on a thriving and populated online community to function but is also free to play. Both factors mean that the developers want as many people playing as possible, with no barriers to entry. So, naturally, they would want to include cross-platform support, right? If you're unsure if you can play with others on different systems, and if so whether you can swap between platforms yourself and not lose progress, here's a full breakdown of MultiVersus' cross-platform support.
