Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Quarantine delayed until at least April 2021

Two of Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming games are being delayed. Far Cry 6 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine will now launch sometime after March 2021.

The news comes from Ubisoft’s latest earnings report, which updated the release targets for both games. Neither game was given a firm release date, but both are now slated to release during Ubisoft’s next fiscal year, which means that they will launch between April 2021 and March 2022.

The earnings report cites the COVID-19 pandemic as a partial cause of the delays, mentioning “production challenges related to work from home.”

Far Cry 6 was scheduled to launch on February 18, while Rainbow Six Quarantine had yet to receive a firm date. Previously, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had told investors the latter would launch in the current fiscal year, meaning it would have released before March 2021.

The Far Cry 6 Twitter account confirmed the delay, echoing Ubisoft’s sentiment about the pandemic’s effect on development.

“While we know you are all anxious to get your hands on Far Cry 6, we want to let you know that we’ve been given more time to allow us to make this the game you aspire to play while focusing on the well-being of our teams in this unprecedented global context,” the statement reads.

The rest of Ubisoft’s upcoming calendar remains unchanged with Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Immortals Fenyx Rising launching this year. The upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and Riders Republic are still set to come out early next year.

You can play stealthy, guns blazing, or some combination of the two in Far Cry 6. The open-world nature of the game lets you tackle objectives as you see fit, so long as it involves killing everyone in your path, that is. To facilitate this mass carnage, all in the name of freeing Yara from the clutches of an evil dictator mind you, you will be given many tools of destruction and mayhem. Supremo Backpacks come in many different forms, seven to be exact, and each has its own ability. Some are more offensive-focused, while others have more support or situational uses, but all are very powerful and worth collecting. Each ability has a meter that must be charged to use it, either by waiting or filling it up faster by getting kills with your traditional weaponry. You will be given one automatically, but the rest have to be unlocked and purchased. The only exception is the final Supremo, which you need to go out of your way to find. Far Cry 6: All rooster locations

Open-world games are known for their side activities. Even the Far Cry games have dabbled in some traditional diversions, such as treasure hunts, races, hunting, and fishing, to name a few. Far Cry 6 has many of these as well, but one extra mode stands out as the most unique for not only this series, but in gaming as a whole. The controversial "sport" of cockfighting makes an appearance as an activity you can participate in to earn some extra money once you reach Montero Farm in Madrugada.

You're not just a spectator betting on a random outcome in Far Cry 6's cockfighting mini-game, however. Instead, the game puts you in control of your rooster of choice in a surprisingly fun and competent little fighting-game-style battle. Before you can enter the ring, though, you will need a champion to fight on your behalf. Special roosters are waiting all around Yara for you to find and test out in the ring.
