TP-Link’s new Kasa mesh router doubles as an Alexa smart speaker

TP-Link has long had its claws in the smart home world through devices like the Kasa Outdoor Smart Plug, but now the company has announced a brand-new lineup of new smart devices at CES 2021.

The most interesting announcement from Kasa is the Deco Voice X20, a combination mesh router and smart speaker all in one. It features Alexa functionality baked right into the device while delivering Wi-Fi 6 to every corner of your home. The Deco Voice X20 also provides powerful IoT security and robust parental controls.

Following this is the Kasa Smart Doorbell with 1080p HD video, person detection, and more. You can store footage locally on a microSD card (up to 128GB) or in the cloud through a Kasa Care plan. The Kasa Smart Doorbell has IP64 weather-resistance to help it stand up to anything Mother Nature throws its way.

Kasa’s security offerings continue with the Kasa Spot Pan Tilt with 24/7 recording. This is an indoor security camera that features 4MP high-resolution images, even when zoomed in. The Starlight Night Vision feature lets you capture detailed images even in the dimmest of light, while the Motion Tracking feature ensures the camera will keep any activity within its view.

The Kasa Cam Outdoor has also seen upgrades. The camera features 2K HD video with a 4-megapixel resolution, Full Color Night Vision, and a Starlight Night Vision sensor. It is also IP65 weatherproof. You can use a microSD card up to 256GB for local storage.

Kasa introduced a Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch with a three-way dimmer kit. You can set the switch to automatically adjust brightness based on time of day, while the dimmer kit allows you to convert your traditional lights to smart lights.

Finally, the Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor Plug now has long-range Wi-Fi so that it can connect to your network even from far away. It has a built-in power amplifier and IP64 weatherproofing. You can control any plugged-in device through the Kasa Smart app.

This new lineup of products makes TP-Link’s smart home offerings even more appealing, especially in the security world. The company also introduced strip lights, new smart bulbs, contact sensors, and much more.

Ecovacs’ new Deebot X1 cleans your home and itself
ECOVACS DEEBOT X1.

Well-known robot vacuum maker Ecovacs has revealed its newest robot floor cleaner as part of CES 2022: The Ecovacs Deebot X1, and this one is a pretty significant upgrade, with useful new tech.

By now we’re all familiar with robot vacuums and mops, and perhaps even the models that will do both all in one bot. So far these have been super handy automated cleaning helpers, but their biggest downside has been the maintenance; if you don’t empty your bot’s onboard dustbin daily, or refill the water tank, they aren’t as effective. So far, manufacturers have made them capable of evacuating the dustbin all on their own, but the mopping maintenance has been elusive. Until now.
