Wyze takes a page out of IKEA’s playbook with its minimalist floor lamp

Is there a room in your home that is just a bit too dark, no matter how many windows are open? It seems like everyone has one. A floor lamp is the perfect solution, and Wyze’s new low-cost option holds a lot of appeal.

Today, Wyze launched the Wyze Floor Lamp, a five-foot, 11-inch lamp stand with a flexible gooseneck head. You can adjust it to shine light where you need it, and the 11 different brightness levels provide tons of utility. You can place it in the corner of the bedroom just to brighten up the space, or you can set it beside a desk to shine light on arts and crafts.

The light beam is focused to 23 degrees, which means the light is directed toward a narrow point and isn’t diffused all throughout a space. The 15 different condenser lenses allow this lamp to be used as a utility light, as well as a normal floor lamp. It scores more than a 90 on the color rendering index, which means that any object seen under the lamp is viewed in almost its true color. Painting, coloring, and other tasks that require color accuracy can all be done beneath the Wyze Floor Lamp.

The Wyze Floor Lamp is available for pre-order today starting at $30 plus shipping. The kit includes the Wyze Floor Lamp stand, a Wyze PARB bulb, a remote, and a quick start guide and batteries for the remote. The product is expected to begin shipping in late May.

The competitive price of the Wyze Floor Lamp makes it worth consideration, especially when you consider that many similar products start at this price point without a bulb. It also includes a 36-month warranty and has a life expectancy of 25,000 hours of use — roughly 2.8 years of nonstop use out of a single bulb. Whether you need a stylish lamp to add a bit more light to a space or you plan to use the Wyze Floor Lamp in a craft room, it has a wide variety of uses. The low price point is just a bonus.

Given Wyze’s continued aggressive push into the smart home with recent additions like the Wyze Robot Vacuum, Wyze Color Bulb,  and Wyze Home Monitoring, thislatest offering should come as no surprise as the company isn’t afraid to make a statement in the form of the utility and affordable cost attached to its products.

Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 adds tons of new features at a lower price tag
The Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 on a wall.

The existing Wyze Cam Floodlight was already an easy recommendation for shoppers on a budget, as it features 2600-lumen LEDs, an expandable microSD card slot, and a 130-degree viewing angle for less than $100. Wyze is making several changes with the newly launched Wyze Cam Floodlight v2, and it offers big improvements over its predecessor, yet carries a smaller price tag.

The Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 doesn't look much different (the central camera unit has been streamlined, though it's still flanked by two massive lights), but it features plenty of enhanced specs. The big selling point is its new 2K camera, which allows it to capture vibrant images at all times of the day, along with color night vision when the sun goes down. Wyze also improved its viewing angle from 130 degrees to 160 degrees, providing additional coverage for large properties.

Nanoleaf upgrades its music-syncing skills, launches new lighting products at CES 2024
The Nanoleaf Skylight lighting up a room various shades of purple.

Nanoleaf lit up the stage at CES 2024, pulling back the curtain on a variety of new lighting products arriving later this year. Along with the Essentials Matter Smart Multicolor Lightstrip, Outdoor String Lights, and Permanent Outdoor Lights, the company gave fans a closer look at the upcoming Skylight Modular Ceiling Light and the Orchestrator software -- with the latter bringing massive improvements to Nanoleaf's music syncing abilities.

Orchestrator is arguably the most exciting innovation of the bunch, as it connects directly to your computer's sound source to create a highly accurate lighting performance. This allows your Nanoleaf products to create a light show that's more robust than most other products on the market, which rely on sound alone.

New Wyze Video Doorbell v2 offers microSD card slot, 2K resolution for just $40
The Wyze Video Doorbell v2 installed near a front door.

Wyze is a popular destination for smart home shoppers seeking premium features on a budget, and the new Wyze Video Doorbell v2 might be its most enticing product yet. Not only does it capture 2K footage and offer free 12-second video recording, but it also features a microSD card slot for local storage -- all for just $40.

That's an impressive list considering its low price. The microSD card slot is the big selling point, as few products in this price range offer the coveted feature. Having a video doorbell with an onboard microSD slot means you can record continuous footage both day and night. When the sun goes down, it also offers color night vision for improved clarity.
