Halo: Reach Live Action Short Debuts This Week

Bungie’s latest (and probably final) Halo game, Halo: Reach, is already one of the year’s most anticipated games. But if fans need a bit more convincing as to why to be excited for it, Microsoft has announced a new live-action short that should help.

The one-minute live-action clip entitled “Birth of a Spartan” acts as a brief origin story for Carter-259, the leader of the squadron your player becomes part of in Reach. The clip follows Carter as he begins the painful augmentation he went through to become a Spartan.

The clip will debut on multiple TV networks this week, online, and on Xbox Live for Hold members on April 28.  It will also be paired with movie trailers, including Iron Man 2.

Halo: Reach is due out on September 1. The multiplayer beta is expected out on May 3, and Microsoft expects over 3 million players.

If the quality is consistent with last year’s Halo: ODST live-action short, prepare to be impressed.
