EA has officially announced that the newest entry into the first person shooter series Medal of Honor will debut in America on October 12, with a European release of the 15. A new trailer also accompanied release date news, which you can see below.
The former World-War-II-based shooter is following the trail (of money) left by Modern Warfare and rebooting the franchise with a current setting, a new story, and a new look.
The game will be set in present day Afghanistan, and players will jump between characters of an elite task force known as Tier1 that is under the command of the National Command Authority, and standard issue military personnel.
EA brought in military consultants to help up the realism quota of the game, and missions should have a heavy emphasis on real-life tactics used by special forces teams – at least as far as realism will carry you when you are playing a game that encourages you to shoot hundreds, if not thousands of bad guys.
A multiplayer portion of the game has been announced, but no details on how it will look or play, yet. EA will most likely debut more details at this year’s E3, but the game will hit stands this October.
