Latest Red Dead Online update adds a new survival mode

Red Dead Online has been in dire need of multiplayer PvE game modes, and with today’s update, one has finally been added to the game. A new game mode, titled Call to Arms, adds a survival multiplayer mode to the game that should be similar to anyone that’s played GTA Online in the past. Along with Call to Arms, players can find some extra new content, including a new Crimes Contract.

Today’s update was revealed on the Rockstar Newswire, but here are all of the details on what to expect from the new update.

Survive and conquer

The highlight of this week’s Red Dead Online update is the addition of the Call to Arms survival mode. In a match, players and their friends have to survive up to 10 waves of enemies in arenas situated across the west, from Blackwater to Fort Mercer or MacFarlane’s Ranch.

To start a Call to Arms match, players have to check their Camp Lockbox for a message from the ever-mysterious “J.” After receiving the message, they will be able to start a Call to Arms match at any time. Players that play a match of Call to Arms this week will receive three times the usual cash, XP, and gold, as well as an offer for 30% off any novice or promising role item.

Quarrel with Cornwall

Players may remember that Leviticus Cornwall plays an important part in the start of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s story. Well, players can bring the oil magnate trouble again with a new crime contract. The Cornwall contract is now available from Blood Money NPCs, and will take players from Cornwall’s factories in the Heartlands all the way to the docks of Saint Denis.

PS Plus adds Evil Dead, OlliOlli World, and more in February
A still from Evil Dead: The Game showing a man holding a gun in a supermarket.

PlayStation Plus Essential's February game lineup was announced today, and it consists of four titles: OlliOlli World, Evil Dead: The Game, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Destiny 2: Beyond Light. These games will be available to download starting February 7. Overall, this is a really solid batch of games.

OlliOlli World was one of my personal favorite games of 2022 because of its amazing level design and 2D skateboarding gameplay that only becomes more fun as you get better with the game. "Like the best games of the genre, it knows that easy-to-learn-but-hard-to-master mechanics, rewarding obstacles, and high speeds that test one’s reaction time are the hallmarks of a great platformer," I wrote in a four-and-a-half star review of the game last February.

The Elder Scrolls Online’s 2023 updates bring players back to Morrowind
the elder scrolls online shadow over morrowind 2023 updates

Following Xbox and Bethesda's Developer_Direct and a dedicated livestream for The Elder Scrolls Online, we learned that the MMO's 2023 updates are all set in Morrowind. Falling under 2023's Shadow Over Morrowind banner, the first two pieces of DLC in March and June will see the addition of new PvE dungeons and the first new playable class since 2019.
While Morrowind is most famous for being the titular location of the third Elder Scrolls game and 2017's The Elder Scrolls Online expansion, ZeniMax Online Studios teased that some of the areas featured in this expansion haven't been seen since the first game in the series. The player's first taste of this new Shadow Over Morrowind content will come with the Scribes of Fate DLC in March. Scribes of Fate adds two four-player PvE dungeons to the MMO. One sees players fight the Scribes of More in Scrivener's Hall, while the other will have them take on Bal Sunnar.
Scribes of Fate launches on March 13 for PC and Mac players and on March 28 for those on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The more significant update will be The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom chapter, releasing on June 5 for PC and Mac and June 20 for consoles. The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom will add 30 hours of new story content set in eastern Morrowind, two new companions, and a new Arcanist class. Arcanists utilized a variety of offensive and support magic, most of which is based on the powers of a Daedric Prince in Oblivion. For fans of Morrowind and this MMO, it's clear there will be quite a lot to sink your teeth into this year.
The Elder Scrolls Online is available now across PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
