Verizon setting aside iPhones for existing customers

Earlier today, we learned that pre-orders for the iPhone 4 will begin tomorrow. The phones will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis on Feb. 10 to new customers, but existing Verizon users have an advantage. We’ve learned that Verizon is setting aside an unspecified number of iPhones for existing Verizon customers that are willing to pay a premium or are eligible for an upgrade. The pre-orders will only be available to current Verizon customers beginning at 3 a.m. Feb. 3. If you aren’t already a Verizon customer, you’ll have to wait.

“We appreciate our many customers who told us that iPhone 4 should be on the nation’s most reliable network,” said Dan Mead, chief executive officer for Verizon Wireless. “We heard them and we agreed, which is why we are letting them be among the first to own an iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network.  We thought it fitting to say thank you to our customers by giving them the phone they want, a week before the general population.”

Again, how many phones Verizon will release in this pre-order is unknown. It will need a large number available on the 10th for launch day as well.

If you are already a Verizon customer and would like to pre-order an iPhone 4, it’s going to be a long night. Make sure to load up on coffee and visit verizonwirleess.com/iphone at 3 am tomorrow morning.

I created the perfect iPhone home screen — and you can too
iPhone 14 Pro with custom home screen icons and widgets

With iOS 14, Apple began to open the floodgates for software customization on the iPhone. For the first time, you could add widgets to the home screen and even change app icons to custom ones without the need for a jailbreak. And iOS 16 gave us some more customization options in the form of the lock screen, although the interface for that is su-par, to say the least.

While I see a lot of people still use a stock grid layout on their home screen, I took some time when iOS 14 first came out to customize my iOS experience. I enjoy that it’s not just a boring grid of stock icons — having custom icons and widgets really mix things up a bit and gives me a more informative home screen.
