iTunes streaming Chili Peppers’ new album for free

Fans of Californian rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers may be interested to know that the band’s new album, set for release on August 30, can now be streamed in its entirety via iTunes.

The 14-track album, titled I’m With You, is available as one continuous stream, so you’ll have to drag the slider back and forth and strike it lucky if you’re looking for a particular track.

This is the Chili Peppers’ tenth album since the band first got together way back in 1983. In that time they’ve sold more than 65 million records. Hits have included Under the Bridge, By the Way and Dani California. The current line-up comprises vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bass player Flea, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith.

Streaming the entire album is one of a number of promotions lined up by the band to publicize the new release – they’re also putting on a free show in London on September 2.

Of course, if the stream of the new album has you tapping your feet or makes you move your body in ways that it hasn’t moved for some considerable time, you may find yourself wanting to purchase it. So the good news is that I’m With You, which is the band’s first release since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, is available for pre-order at iTunes for $12.99.

How to convert your vinyl to a digital format
Rebirth of cool: Is vinyl ready for a second wind, or just a fad?

It doesn't matter one bit if your vinyl collection consists of just a single milk crate or if it fills several Ikea Kallax shelves and is slowly taking over your home — we can all agree that there's just something about vinyl.

Maybe it's the warm, uncompressed sound spinning off a solid turntable, or the feel of holding a physical piece of art in your hands while the record spins — it's a special experience that has regained much of its glory in a world dominated by digital streaming. The problem is, records are fragile, and crates full of them don't fit in your back pocket.
