Panasonic announces firmware upgrade that makes all Lumix G lenses HD

panasonic-lumix-g3Panasonic has released firmware that will upgrade seven of its Lumix G interchangeable lens series to HD quality. This means videos will be smoother and won’t suffer autofocus lag or noise, and Panasonic says its optical image stabilizer technology will be enhanced by the upgrade.

It’s an all-around bonus for Lumix G-series users, a high-end device that nails stills but can’t quite compete with dedicated cameras for video recording. It’s a popular series and undeniably impressive, but video from Micro Four Thirds cameras hasn’t always gotten the best reviews. This bumps the pricey camera’s capabilities up a notch and keeps it from being easily bested by new releases–which in turn helps consumers justify spending so much on it to begin with.

Here are the seven lenses that will be issued the firmware uprade:

  • LUMIX G 14mm / F2.5 ASPH. (H-H014)
  • LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. (H-FS014042)
  • LUMIX G FISHEYE 8mm / F3.5 (H-F008)
  • LUMIX G VARIO 100-300mm / F4.0-5.6 / MEGA O.I.S. (H-FS100300)
  • LUMIX G VARIO 7-14mm / F4.0 ASPH. (H-F007014)
  • LUMIX G VARIO 14-45mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. (H-FS014045)
  • LUMIX G VARIO 45-200mm / F4.0-5.6 / MEGA O.I.S. (H-FS045200)

Best microSD cards in 2023: top picks for your computer, camera, or drone
galaxy s8 tips and tricks

MicroSD cards are an unsung hero in the mobile space. They provide extra storage space for your smartphone, but they're also key in tablets, drones, and security cameras. Unfortunately, this feature is falling out of favor in the smartphone space, and most flagship and midrange phones no longer have a slot to insert a microSD card. Even the most expensive phones around, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Samsung S22 Ultra don't have a microSD card slot anymore. You're not even safe if you have an iPhone or iPad, as they've never had microSD card slots.

But all is not lost! Some of the best Android phones and best Android tablets do still support them, and they're still required for use with cameras, security cameras, and drones. But no matter which device you're buying it for, you'll want to get your hands on a microSD card from a reputable brand.
