Ana de Armas shines as Marilyn Monroe in new Blonde trailer

Netflix has released the official trailer for one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Blonde. Written and directed by Andrew Dominik, Ana de Armas steps into the persona of Marilyn Monroe, a pop culture icon who rose to prominence in the 1950s and early 1960s before her tragic death in 1962.

Blonde is a fictionalized exploration of Monroe’s life based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. The source material combines factual events and people with a fictional look into the Hollywood star’s two lives: the private Norma Jean and the superstar known as Marilyn Monroe. As de Armas tearfully says in the footage, “Marilyn Monroe only exists on the screen.”

Starring alongside de Armas is Adrien Brody as Arthur Miller, the famous playwright and Monroe’s third husband, and Bobby Cannavale as Joe DiMaggio, the Hall of Fame baseball player and Monroe’s second husband. Xavier Samuel and Julianne Nicholson also star alongside de Armas.

Ben Affleck and Ana De Armas in Deep Water.

After twenty years, director Adrian Lyne is making his Hollywood comeback with Deep Water, a new Hulu original thriller. Lyne's previous credits are some of the most famous movies from the '80s and '90s, including Flashdance, 9½ Weeks, Fatal Attraction, Jacob's Ladder,  and Indecent Proposal. And this time, Lyne's sexually charged thriller features a former real-life couple: Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.

In the new trailer for Deep Water, Affleck portrays Vic Van Allen, with de Armas as his wife Melinda Van Allen. At one point, there really was love between the Van Allens. Unfortunately, Melinda's appetite for lovers can't be filled by one man, and she constantly flaunts her infidelity in front of her husband, their daughter, and even his friends. It's all fun and games for Melinda until someone ends up dead. But is Vic taking his vengeance out on her lovers? Or is someone else behind this string of suspicious deaths?

What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024
A man stands in front of a caution sign.

James Patterson's Alex Cross character is getting a third chance in live-action this month on Amazon Prime Video. Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry have previously portrayed the titular detective character. Now, Black Adam's Aldis Hodge steps into the role. The new Cross series is Prime Video's biggest debut in November, but far from the only noteworthy addition. There are a lot of new additions to the streamer's movie lineup, including The Godfather trilogy, Silver Linings Playbook, and the unconventional vampire film Abigail.

Additionally, Prime Video is rebooting Cruel Intentions as a drama series, which has the potential to be another big hit for the streamer. And aside from Die Hard, there are only a handful of Christmas titles coming this month. We can appreciate a little restraint, especially since December will likely be a very different story.
