Moped riders ransack Apple store in London

At around 1:15 a.m. this morning, a gang of about seven moped riders robbed Apple’s Covent Garden store in London, UK. The group broke through a window and made off with MacBook laptops, iPhones, and iPads, according to TheNextWeb. The police have already arrested two supposed members of the gang, but it is unknown precisely how much merchandise the thieves sped off with.

Robert Shoesmith, an Apple fan who has been camping out for the iPhone 4S, was sleeping outside the store when he heard the alarms go off.

The police report that most mopeds had a second passenger on them and all cyclists were wearing crash helmets. Police chased after one moped, but lost it. Another moped was found abandoned next to the building where the two men were arrested. They had bags full of Apple gear.

We have always wanted to report on a wily gang of moped riders. We suspect they looked something like this picture, but doubled up and with a backpack full of iPads.

M1 MacBook owners are suing Apple for cracked screens
A cracked M1 MacBook Display.

Several complaints have been lodged on Apple’s M1 MacBook displays cracking during normal usage. The M1 MacBook Air and the M1 MacBook Pro are both included in this unusual cracking issue. Apple, however, has so far refused to accept responsibility.

As reported by 9to5Mac, the problem started when M1 MacBook owners noticed that their screens were cracking by just opening and closing the lids of the laptops. Multiple threads on Apple Support Communities and Reddit are filled with such complaints. Users also reported the cracks being simply there the next time they used the machine after putting it down.

Apple reportedly hosting multiple September events to launch new iPhones, iPads
Apple's Tim Cook at an Apple event

Apple may be holding multiple events in September to launch its new products, according to a new report attributed to DigiTimes. The report, spotted by MacRumors, would be a departure from Apple's tendency to either combine its launch events into one or break them up over an extended period of time.

Apple this fall is expected to launch a slew of new devices including the iPhone 13 family, the iPad Mini 6, a new 9th-generation iPad, the Apple Watch Series 7, new AirPods, and new MacBooks. While Apple has yet to confirm a date, an earlier report from a Wedbush analyst stated that Apple would be holding an event on September 4 to launch its new iPhone. This report from DigiTimes appears to clarify that multiple such events can be expected over the month. One such event would be focused on the 9th-generation iPad, which is expected to be a thinner and lighter model with a more powerful processor than last year's version. It would presumably be paired with the iPad Mini 6 and aimed at a back-to-school audience.

The larger, more powerful Apple Silicon iMac may not launch until 2022
Two people use iMacs on a desk in an office.

Apple tipster @dylandkt on Twitter has predicted that the larger redesigned iMac with a Silicon chip is going to launch in 2022, as opposed to earlier speculations about it launching in the fourth quarter of 2021.

He claims that a probable reason behind this could be Apple attempting to boost M1X MacBook Pro’s sales, which are is set to release at the end of this year.
