For those that haven’t caught on to the gaming phenomenon that is Minecraft, it’s essentially an open world sandbox game where you are basically free to create, or in this case, recreate pretty much anything you want.
In this machinima, created by games musician Grahame (aka Paradise Decay), Minecraft blocks are used to recreate the iconic scene at the end of Star Wars: A New Hope. The climactic battle sees our plucky young Jedi-in-training Luke Skywalker brave the Death Star trenches, destroying the massive battle installation, and thus thwarting the evil Empires attempt to destroy the Rebel Alliance base on Yavin 4.
It’s a pretty amazing video and definitely shows off the depth and possibilities for creation that Minecraft’s engine is capable of. And, if you’re especially impressed with Grahame’s build, he is currently hard at work on his next project; a full-on Minecraft/Starwars adventured titled Rise of the Rebellion.
