You have to see this chaotic Like a Dragon-themed wrestling match

You HAVE to see this! LIKE A DRAGON GAIDEN STREET FIGHT presented by Sega! | 11/15/23 AEW Dynamite

In a surprising partnership, Sega teamed up with All Elite Wrestling on Wednesday, November 15 for a Like a Dragon-themed wrestling match. It was every bit as chaotic as you’re probably imagining.

In a promotional stunt supporting the newly released Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, AEW held a themed match full of references to the series. Dubbed the “Like a Dragon Gaiden Street Fight,” the five-on-five tag team bout featured Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Chris Jericho, and Paul Wight taking on Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Brian Cage, and Kyle Fletcher.

For fans of the series, the match was full of delightful Easter eggs. Konosuke Takeshita came to the ring in full Goro Majima ring gear (the ring announcers referred to him as a “mad dog”), while Omega’s team got a familiar splash screen referring to them as the Golden Dragons of Dojima.

Wrestlers walk in suits, as on screen text refers to them as the Golden Dragons of Dojima.

This was a no-disqualification match, which meant that everyone involved got a chance to replicate the wild action of the RPG series. We saw real-life heat actions, piledrivers through food boards, and back body drops onto plastic palettes. The most absurd sequence of the entire show came when Kota Ibushi rode a bicycle to the ring. That naturally went wrong fast, turning into a melee weapon inside the ring. This is probably the only time you’ll see someone take a brainbuster on top of a bike in a wrestling match.

Kota Ibushi!

On a bike!

With a pipe!!!

The Golden Dragons stood tall at the end, with Omega hitting his Final Fantasy-inspired One Winged Angel on Brian Cage for the win. That’s about the tamest way this could have ended, all things considered, so don’t miss the highlight reel.

Sega explains why it’s officially ditching the Yakuza name for Like a Dragon
Sakamoto Ryōma holds a sword in Like a Dragon: Ishin!

The Yakuza name is no more, as Sega plans to officially rebrand the series of crime dramas under the franchise name "Like a Dragon" moving forward -- a move that became apparent with the reveal of three new games prior to this year's Tokyo Game Show. Speaking to Digital Trends, a Sega of America representative confirmed the reason for the name change.
"I can confirm the series will be known as "Like a Dragon" moving forward to more closely align with the Japanese name," a representative for Sega of America tells Digital Trends.
In Japan, Sega has called the series Ryū ga Gotoku since its inception in 2005, and that phrase is even the namesake of developer RGG Studio. "Ryū ga Gotoku" translates to "like a dragon" in English, but Sega decided to call the series Yakuza when it brought the first game to the West in 2006. Now that the series is more popular than ever and largely moved on from telling stories directly focused on the Yakuza, it makes sense for Sega to give the series a similar title in all regions. Sega localization producer Scott Strichart pointed out on Twitter that 2020's Yakuza: Like a Dragon foreshadowed the change by naming a chapter "Chapter 12: The End of Yakuza." Strichart is not involved with the localization of upcoming Like a Dragon titles.

Three Like a Dragon games are in the works for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Like a Dragon: Ishin will be the first one of them to release, as it launches on February 23, 2023. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name follows later next year, while Like a Dragon 8 continues the mainline series in 2024.

New Atari 50 DLC shows the Intellivision acquisition is already paying off
An Atari 2600+ sits on a table.

Digital Eclipse's Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration is an excellent and comprehensive look back at the company's now classic video game lineup, with games to play and extra content to interact with. So far, it's gotten one DLC: The Wider World of Atari, that added even more titles. Now, it's about to get its second, thanks to an acquisition it made earlier this year.

Atari announced The First Console War on Friday, and it's about, as you can guess, the company's first console war with the Intellivision, although it'll touch on a specific element of it. In the 1980s, Mattel was publishing games on the Intellivision. At some point, it decided to release versions of these console exclusives for its main competitor, the Atari 2600, under the M Network label. There are 19 of these games coming to Atari 50 with The First Console War, which is set to launch on November 8 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 Atari 50 owners.

Is Monster Hunter Wilds cross-platform?
Two hunters ride mounts in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Of all the genres that we think need to be on the list of cross-platform games, hunting games like Monster Hunter Wilds have to be near the top. These are a rather unique style of game compared to the likes of Fallout 76, Genshin Impact, or Stardew Valley. Each of those has cooperative or competitive elements to them that are enhanced by cross-platform support, but nothing like what Monster Hunter Wilds has going on. The game will allow you to call in NPCs to help you on the hunt, but these games are best when you get a group of real friends together and embark on an epic quest to slay a giant beast, scavenge it for parts, and return to camp victorious. Monster Hunter Rise eventually got cross-platform support once it was ported off the Switch, but will Monster Hunter Wilds launch with this feature? Here's what you need to know about cross-platform support in one of our most anticipated upcoming games.
Is Monster Hunter Wilds cross-platform?

Monster Hunter Wilds will only have partial cross-platform support. The good news is that the part that it will have is crossplay, meaning that you and friends on either PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC can all hunt together with no issues. This feature can be disabled if you wish, but will be enabled by default to make sure desperate hunters can always find some aid when in need.
