Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo vs. Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo: Which is the better robot vacuum?

Ecovacs has launched two “Combo” products this year that bundle together a robot vacuum with a secondary handheld vacuum. Each is a great all-in-one solution to keeping your home clean, as they let you tackle not just floors, but also furniture, stairs, blinds, and other areas that might accumulate dust. The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo was the first to hit the market, though the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo arrived shortly after.

But what’s the difference between the Ecovacs X2 Combo and Ecovacs T30S Combo? And which is better for your home? Here’s a closer look at these similarly named robots to help you decide which to purchase.

The Ecovacs X2 Combo regularly costs $1,600, though it’s often on sale for $1,400. This version includes the handheld vacuum and the robot vacuum. If you’d like the extension hose and Zero Tangle Power Brush (which turn the handheld vacuum into a cordless vacuum for your floors), you’ll need to purchase the Power Brush Kit. This can be bundled with the X2 Combo for a grand total of $1,800 (though it’s usually discounted to $1,500).

The Ecovacs T30S Combo is regularly priced at $1,200, but it’s not uncommon to see the product on sale for $1,050. Like the X2 Combo, this version includes the robot vacuum and handheld vacuum. To get the extension hose and Zero Tangle Power Brush, you’ll spend $1,300 (with regular discounts listing it for $1,150).

Despite a higher price tag, the X2 Combo uses less suction than the T30S (8,700Pa vs 11,000Pa). That makes a big difference when tackling dirty areas of your home, with the T30S providing a more thorough clean during testing. For example, it handled large clumps of dirt and debris with ease, whereas the X2 Combo didn’t have enough power to pull them off the hard floor or carpet.

However, the X2 Combo can raise its mops 15mm off the ground when traveling on carpet, whereas the T30S Combo can only lift them up by 9mm. Keep this in mind if you have plush carpets and hard floors in your home, as the T30S might have more suction, but it could also end up dragging its dirty mops across ultra-plush carpets.

Mopping

Both the X2 Combo and T30S Combo use something known as the OZMO Turbo 2.0 mopping system. This allows them to apply downward pressure while also rotating their mopping pads to tackle tough stains and spills. However, the T30S Combo gets a slight advantage, as it can swing one of its mopping pads outward and away from the robot to cover more area. This allows it to clean underneath and around furniture better than the X2 Combo.

The X2 Combo uses a rectangular shape to help get its mops closer to baseboards, but there’s no denying the swinging mop on the T30S is a big advantage. The upgrade is especially noticeable around furniture like chairs and tables, as well as the perimeter of a room.

Additional features

Ecovacs loaded the two robots with additional features, including a built-in voice assistant (YIKO), intelligent mopping that’ll give areas a second pass if they’re still dirty, a mobile app that lets you schedule cleanings or set restricted areas, and docking stations that automatically empty dustbins and clean mops with hot water and warm air.

Of course, there are also the handheld vacuums, which perform about the same regardless of whether they’re bundled with the X2 or T30S. They’re not the most powerful on the market, but as an included extra, they’re a nice addition. It’s also great that the docking station automatically empties the handheld vacuum dustbin, so you can clean your home without ever getting your hands dirty.

Is the X2 Combo worth the extra price?

While the X2 Combo is more expensive than the T30S Combo, most homes will find the T30S Combo to be the better purchase. Not only is it cheaper, but it features more suction for vacuuming and a swinging mop for improved hard floor coverage. Toss in the handheld vacuum and a dock that automatically cleans the robot, and you’ve got a robot vacuum that’s feature-complete for just over $1,000.

If you’d benefit from the 15mm mop-raising abilities of the X2 Combo, it might be a worthwhile addition to your home. But because it lacks the suction and swinging mop of the T30S — and it costs more — it’s a less appealing pick for most shoppers.
