OnePlus has just confirmed that its next flagship arrives on October 31 in China. Over the past few days, the phone has appeared in unceremonious leaks, was spotted at an event in China, and appeared in teaser silhouettes. The wait for a better look, however, is finally over.

The preorder page for OnePlus’ upcoming phone has gone live on Oppo Shop in China, and with it, we now have a whole bunch of official images. It’s a familiar design, if you ask me, but it still stands out with a few neat changes.

The most notable shift is a flat metallic frame, which is a stark departure from the curved sides that have been a mainstay on OnePlus phones for nearly a decade. It won’t be alone in doing so, as nearly every brand – including Apple, Samsung, and other Chinese rivals — has wholeheartedly embraced this aesthetic language.

But what truly arrests the attention is how OnePlus is offering different surface finishes on each color option. The black trim appears to sport a woodgrain-inspired texture that is also reminiscent of OnePlus’ signature sandstone look.

There’s also a white variant, which on closer inspection is apparently inspired by the shimmery grain texture commonly seen on marble. OnePlus has done this a few times and recently told Digital Trends about the brand’s affinity for nature as a core design inspiration.

The most stunning iteration is the “Blues Hour” color option. This one rocks a leather texture and pairs it with a contrasting silver metal finish across the camera island, flat edges, and a thin line connected to the round camera module.

It’s the most stunning leather finish OnePlus has delivered in a while and a close second to the OnePlus 11R in its fiery Solar Red avatar that also had beautiful stitches for that authentic rugged look.

OnePlus hasn’t said much about the internal hardware. But leaks point toward the obvious Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen series silicon upgrade. We’re also hearing rumors of a next-gen take on the screen refresh tech for the OnePlus 13.

The Hasselblad camera partnership is here to stay for another generation, and we are expecting some interesting software-side upgrades this time around as well. On the UI front, the company has already started testing the Android 15-based avatar of Oxygen OS and will share more details later this month.

On the undesirable side, it seems OnePlus 13 fans are in for a price hike this time around. Analysts have predicted that the price of Qualcomm’s silicon will keep getting higher, and it will eventually impact the asking price of consumer hardware, especially flagship smartphones.

Earlier today, OnePlus confirmed plans for its next-gen software overhaul based on Android 15, but so far, details of its upcoming flagship have remained tightly under wraps. Well, it seems leaks have other intentions.

On the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, an image allegedly depicting the OnePlus 13 has been making rounds. Moreover, the material comes from a reliable source (Digital Chat Station), which lends further credibility to the leak.

OnePlus will launch the latest version of its smartphone software, OxygenOS 15, on October 24. It is based on Android 15 and follows several months of Android 15 beta releases that began in May after the Google I/O developer conference and which were made available on various OnePlus devices.

Paired with the tagline of “Speed and AI,” the company says the software will be “equipped with industry-leading Fast&Smooth experience, meaningful new AI features, and a distinctive design style that highlights OnePlus’ personality. OxygenOS 15 is set to be the fastest and most user-friendly OxygenOS ever.”

The rumor mill is churning with exciting news about OnePlus' upcoming midrange contender, the OnePlus 13R. According to Digital Chat Station, leaked information suggests this phone could pack a serious punch thanks to a powerful all-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and a massive 6,000 mAh battery for all-day endurance.
The new phone could also offer a 1.5K flat display. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the rumored camera setup featuring a Sony IMX906 primary sensor and a 50MP telephoto lens for capturing detailed zoom shots.
Android Authority first noted that the new report doesn't mention the OnePlus 13R by name. Instead, it's likely talking about the company's next Ace device. However, that lineup is only released in China and rebranded for global markets. For example, the Ace 2 became the OnePlus 11R, while the Ace 3 became the highly-rated OnePlus 12R.

One point of contention for Android Authority regarding the phone discussed by Digital Chat Station is the chipset. While the leak mentions the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, it says the phone might include the slightly less powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to reduce costs — at least in areas outside of China.
Where could OnePlus release a phone worldwide with Qualcomm's next chip? The long-rumored OnePlus 13. The company’s next flagship phone should offer a 6.82-inch BOE X2 display with 2K resolution. It may also support 100-watt wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
With an expected announcement very soon, the OnePlus 13 and 13R are poised to make waves in the smartphone world. Their predecessors, the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R, remain top contenders in the market, setting a high bar for these upcoming releases. Both phones are anticipated to be available worldwide before the end of the year or early January.
