Your profile picture says a lot about you, so if you’re feeling like what it’s currently saying is “yearbook photo” or “I’m boring,” you might want to spice things up with one of these avatar-improving apps.

Select between a variety of face shapes, skin types, lips, eyes and accessories to create a face that looks like you, or Ryan Gosling, or something in between. There’s no loading up a photo so your face can be as interesting as your imagination.

Facebook is adding shopping to your mobile app

You can now shop for items directly within Facebook’s app through a new shopping tab that rolled out Tuesday called Facebook Shop. 

Facebook Shop is where customers can discover businesses and products within the app. You can find the new feature in the main menu in Facebook’s app.

Instagram kept pictures and private DMs long after users deleted them

Instagram’s delete buttons may not have functioned as you intended them to in the last year. Independent security researcher Saugat Pokharel discovered that Instagram (via TechCrunch) kept copies of deleted pictures and private direct messages on its servers, even after someone removed them from their account.

Last year, when Pokharel downloaded an archive of his Instagram account’s data, he found that the file also contained images and messages he had deleted more than a year earlier -- suggesting that while these pictures weren’t visible on his profile, they were still present on Instagram parent Facebook’s servers.

Twitter iOS app update lets you choose who can reply to your tweets

Twitter just rolled out a new feature to its iOS app that lets users limit which people can reply to their tweets. 

The feature was announced in May as a test, but you can now use it in Twitter’s latest iOS app update, which rolled out late Wednesday.
