Toyota announces GT 86 Cup Edition – for Europe only. But…

Toyota GT 86 Cup Edition

Toyota recently formed an all-new racing series: the Toyota GT 86 Cup. In this series, drivers will race only GT 86s around Germany’s Nurburgring.

To commemorate the start of the new Cup, Toyota has produced 86 special GT 86 Cup Edition models for the European market. The cars have been painted to resemble the GT 86 CS-V racecars that will be competing in the inaugural Cup race.

The Toyota GT 86 is sold here in the States as the Scion FR-S, as you might recall, so with the right paint and accessories, you could put a decent copy together on your own.

Running $3,695 more than the standard GT 86, the Cup Edition won’t give drivers any more power, as the 2.0-liter, 200-horsepower drivetrain remains untouched.

Toyota has added, however, special stripes, an Alcantara-trimmed sports steering wheel, Cup Edition emblems, and a special brushed aluminum numbered plaque on the dash. Additionally, the GT 86 Cup Edition features 18-inch light alloy wheels from OZ Racing, Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tires, according to MotorAuthority.

Buyers of the GT 86 Cup Edition also receive two VIP tickets to the event.

If you’re in Europe this weekend anywhere near the Nurburgring, swing on by to check out the Toyota GT 86 Cup in person. And if you really like the (in)famous track, you can always buy it.
