Rumor: Apple’s iTV will arrive early 2014 or sooner, sporting 4K resolution

Apple iTV

Really, it feels like we’ve been hearing rumors about an Apple ‘iTV’ for years. Oh wait a minute, we have. And here’s another one.

According to a report from Taiwan-based DigiTimes, the Cupertino company is working on the creation of a 4K Ultra HD television with a resolution of 3840 x 2160. In line with other previously heard chatter, the report says the TV would also sport voice and motion control functionality as well as Internet connectivity.

Citing sources in the supply chain, the report said Apple had been hoping to unveil the iTV later this year but is having issues finding an Ultra HD TV panel maker with time on its hands. Most, it seems, are already operating at full capacity as they try to meet demand from China-based TV vendors.

“Additionally, other panel makers in Apple’s supply chain that may have the ability to produce Ultra HD TV panels are expected to allocate most of their panel production to the company’s iPhone, iPad and iPad Mini products instead,” DigiTimes said, adding that the tech giant is hoping it may be able to get LG Display to produce the panels in the second half of this year.

While a late-2013 iTV launch is still a possibility, it seems more likely, at least at this stage, that it’ll happen in the early part of 2014 – so plenty of time for more rumors to pop up.

DigiTimes admittedly has a mixed record in its dealings with “people familiar with the matter,” but with predictions by analysts such as Jefferies’ Peter Misek falling by the wayside (the high-profile Apple analyst recently said the tech giant would hold an iTV-related event this month), perhaps the Taiwan-based publication actually knows a thing or two about what’s going on.

Now, what’s happening with the iWatch?

Save $200 on this 75-inch Vizio QLED 4K TV at Walmart
Vizio 2023 M-series TV hanging on a wall.

Usually when we find great deals on TVs, they aren't this year's model. But that isn't always true. Today, we found a 75-inch Vizio MQ6 QLED 4K TV going for $200 off. At an original price of $898, and a sale price of $698, that makes it nearly (but not quite) 25% off. Did something go wrong? Do the people hate this TV? Apparently not, as the TV is incredibly highly reviewed by Walmart customers. (This is a Walmart deal, so go ahead and tap the button below to see for yourself.) Could it really be that Walmart is just this generous, this early? Read on to find out more about one of the quickest TV deals we're seeing right now, a bit about the QLED technology behind it, and why you should buy it.

Why you should buy a 75-inch Vizio MQ6 QLED 4K TV
Walmart wants you to see the word "NEW" in big letters when you see this TV. So, what are we seeing on this TV that warrants the capital letters? Well, for a TV in this price range, and comparing it to other members of the best TVs like it that are slightly older, we can find some contrasts. For example, the 75-inch Vizio MQ6 QLED 4K TV emphasizes Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. It's a lightning fast internet protocol that isn't exactly new, but about to become increasingly useful as more and more Wi-Fi 6 routers are being used and internet connections are at the speed to support it. Other improvements include the 'ThinFrame Design' a clear homage to Samsung's The Frame. Beyond that, expect many of the great things you would from any 4K TV, including Bluetooth headphone support, free viewing options, and a 60Hz refresh rate.
