Asus M6000 Notebook Review

Quote from the review at Digit-Life:

“Though diverse, ASUS Centrino notebook series have featured integrated graphics until recently. In private talks company representatives conveyed that discrete graphics would make models heavier and negatively affect consumer qualities. Nevertheless the market demands were answered and ASUS released its rather representative M6800N/Ne series. According to ASUS Global, it includes 14.1″, 15.1″ (4:3) and 15.4″ (16:10) models with the identical bodies. These notebook utilize ATI Mobility? Radeon? 9600 (M6000N) / 9700 (M6000Ne) graphics. We had time to test ASUS M6B00N wide-format model and (ta-dam!) M6B00Ne that features just announced 2GHz Intel Pentium M 755, the most powerful in the series that also includes 1.8GHz Intel Pentium M745 and 1.7GHz Intel Pentium M 735.”

Asus Zenbook Pro 16X hands-on review: Fast, feature-packed
A Asus Zenbook Pro 16X sitting on a desk.

Asus has a penchant for creating innovative laptop designs. It was the first to introduce the angled hinge that lifts the keyboard deck up for easier typing and better airflow. And it was the first to embed an LED in the touchpad to add more functionality.

The ZenBook Pro 16X doubles down on that focus on innovation, with a flip-up keyboard, an Asus Dial for application control, and a haptic touchpad. I got an opportunity to look at a prerelease ZenBook Pro 16X, meaning I can only provide my subjective opinion without any official benchmarks, but that's enough to offer a taste of this new feature-packed machine.

Intel claims new 12th-gen laptop chips outclass the M1 Pro
Intel shows off 12th Gen Mobile processors for laptops.

Intel already announced its 12th-gen mobile processors at CES 2022, but we're just now hearing about the details of its efficient U- and P-series chips. Unlike the H-series, which is built for high-performance machines like the MSI Raider GE76, these new processors are built for thin and light notebooks and 2-in-1s.

We've known about these chips, including detailed official specs, for a while. But Intel is just now giving us a taste of performance. Intel says the most efficient U-series chips can rival Apple's M1, while the juiced up P-series processors can outclass the M1 Pro. Compared to last-gen's Core i7-1195G7, Intel says the new chips offer up to 70% higher multi-threaded performance.

Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition hands-on review: To the stars
Asus Zenbook 14X OLED with its accessories.

It’s not often we see collectors' laptops like the Asus Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition. Announced at CES 2022, it’s an updated version of the already-released Zenbook 14X OLED, fit with new 12th-gen Intel processors and a more robust build -- but hardware isn’t what makes the Space Edition special.

The machine is inspired by Asus’s own P6300, which launched into space in 1997 and managed to stay outside the atmosphere for 600 days without any defects. It’s an homage, a celebration, and a retrospective on how far laptops have come.
