Benq P50 Handset To Be UMA Enabled

The collaboration is a result of growing demand for UMA Technology, the standard for fixed-mobile convergence, from network service providers around the world.

BenQ’s P50 Pocket PC phone is the first product from this collaboration. The P50 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS product with an integrated 802.11b Wi-Fi radio and UMA Client Software from Kineto. The P50 also has an integrated QWERTY keyboard and a complete Microsoft Windows for Pocket PC Phone environment including Windows Media 9 capabilities.

The companies intend the P50 to support volume UMA deployments in 2005. The UMA-enabled P50 will be demonstrated in Kineto’s booth at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France February 14-17, 2005.

Huawei’s P50 Pro Plus has an even more unusual camera bump than we expected
huawei p50 p50plus renders leaks pro plus

Huawei is gearing up to launch the P50-series of smartphones soon. While we've seen leaks and renders of the presumably cheaper and not-as-cool P50 and P50 Pro, the P50 Pro Plus has been a bit camera shy -- at least until now. Now, new renders from leaker HoiIndi shared on Twitter have given us a good look at the phone, especially its outlandish rear. The Huawei P50 Pro Plus may have the same oval-shaped camera enclosure we see in the smaller phones, and these renders show off the finer details obscured by earlier ones.

We can see Leica branding, as expected from Huawei, written vertically on the bump, and from what we can see it looks to be a five-camera affair, likely sporting an ultrawide and a telephoto in addition to the two extra lenses. Around the front is a very minimal design. The same very small hole-punch selfie camera as we've seen in the P50 and P50 Pro leaks makes a return, and the screen appears to have very slim bezels for an immersive experience.

Leaked Huawei P50 Pro shows it may have a very unusual camera module design
huawei p50 pro render leak news 2

Huawei is apparently gearing up to release its flagship smartphones for 2021 -- the P50 and P50 Pro -- and pair of leaks from well-known leaker Onleaks has shown us what to expect. The camera module design leaps out at you straight away, due to its size and shape, which breaks away from the current trend for squared-off modules. Love it or hate it, it can't be ignored.

What about the rest? The Huawei P50 Pro will likely be the flagship of this line, unless there is a Pro Plus version. The leaks suggest it will have a 6.6-inch screen with a single-hole punch camera, which blends into a metallic chassis, giving the illusion of a nearly full-screen display. On the back, Huawei is presumably eyeing more than one camera, but the render obscures the precise number of lenses. What we do see are two large ovals, which is a unique and distinct shape for a camera bump in an age when phones from Google, Oppo, and Apple all have similar-looking squared-off modules.

Huawei P50 may be the first smartphone to launch with HarmonyOS
huawei quentin ting interview mate 40 pro virtual buttons 30 and sides

The rumored Huawei P50 series smartphone range is set to be the first to run HarmonyOS, the company's homegrown operating system, right out of the box, according to a rumor originating from a source in China. The P50 series will follow Huawei's Mate 40 series and is expected to come in three variants, a P50, a P50 Pro, and a P50 Pro Plus, according to a report from GizChina.

One of the most significant changes over the old models may be the software. Due to restrictions placed on it by the U.S. government, Huawei is not able to work with various U.S. suppliers, including Google. Recent Huawei flagships ran on open-source Android, with the company's EMUI skin overlaying Google's operating system, but the P50 will apparently drop Android for HarmonyOS.
