Sony To Turn PSP Into Media Player

“Speaking in California, Yair Landau, vice chairman of Sony Pictures, said the plan is to turn the PSP into a versatile, portable device for games, music, videos and much more. Integrate the service with Sony’s online music store will allow the Japanese electronics giant to come somewhat closer to competing with Apple Computer and its combination iPod digital media device and iTunes Music Store, which has dominated the online music and player market worldwide.

The PSP was launched in Japan in December and will be available in the U.S. in late March. “

It looks like Sony and Apple have been working together afterall. Perhaps this is just the start for the two companies.

Electronic Arts was forced to dial back the introduction of in-game ads to EA Sports UFC 4, following massive backlash from players.

UFC 4 players voiced their disappointment and outrage against the appearance of real-world ads to UFC 4 in a Reddit thread, which showed a clip featuring an ad for Amazon's The Boys Season 2 while within a match. The show's logo also appears in the middle of the octagon, and briefly on top of the timer at the bottom of the screen.

Sony opens up PlayStation 5 pre-orders to select players

Sony's PlayStation 5 may not have an official launch date or price, but at least some would-be owners are getting an express pass to pre-order the tech giant's next-generation console.

Sony is sending PlayStation 5 pre-order invitations on Thursday to players based on their "previous interests and PlayStation activities." Those who are selected for the program will receive an email invitation to pre-order the console. Those who don't receive an email will not be able to participate in the program, and there's no sign-up page where people can apply for the invite.

An upcoming crossplay feature in Apex Legends has raised concerns that console players will be at a disadvantage against PC players, but a Respawn Entertainment developer provided assurance that that will not be the case.

Console players on their controllers will find it difficult to match up against PC players, who have more precise controls with a keyboard and mouse. Overwatch, another multiplayer shooter, has even called out console players who are using a keyboard and mouse set-up, as it leads to competitive imbalance.
