Canon Debuts New CanoScan LiDE Scanners

The CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner measures in at only 1.3-inches tall and connects to your computer using a USB cable. What makes this printer unique however is that the USB connection from your PC actually powers the scanner, bypassing an AC adapter all together.

The LiDE 25 scanner also comes with Quality Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE Level 3) technology, which reduces much of the dust and scratches from older originals. QARE technology even autocorrects scanned images to help with graininess, picture fading and improper backlighting. Thanks to the Canon exclusive Advanced Z-Lid expansion top, which automatically lifts approximately one inch vertically and lays flat on the item being scanned, the CanoScan LiDE 25 scanner can even deliver high-quality scans of bulky items such as books and magazines.

The CanoScan LiDE 25 has a maximum 1200 x 2400 color dpi resolution (software enhanced resolution: 19,200 dpi) and 48-bit Input color depth for over 281 trillion possible colors.

The CanoScan LiDE 25 will be priced at around $49.99 coming in at one of the lowest priced scanners we have seen on the market.

The CanoScan LiDE 60 scanner, like the LiDE 25, uses one cable for both the PC connection and the power supply. What separates this scanner from the LiDE 25 is a more sophisticated look and a more comprehensive software package.

Like the CanoScan LiDE 25, the LiDE 60 has a maximum 1200 x 2400 color dpi resolution (software enhanced resolution: 19,200 dpi) and 48-bit Input color depth for over 281 trillion possible colors.

So if you already have your own scanning software and do not mind the “cheaper” look of the LiDE, it seems to be the better deal of the two, since their specifications are nearly identical.

Trying to buy a GPU in 2023 almost makes me miss the shortage
Two AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards on a pink surface.

The days of the GPU shortage are long over, but somehow, buying a GPU is harder than ever -- and that sentiment has very little to do with stock levels. It's just that there are no obvious candidates when shopping anymore.

In a generation where no single GPU stands out as the single best graphics card, it's hard to jump on board with the latest from AMD and Nvidia. I don't want to see another GPU shortage, but the state of the graphics card market is far from where it should be.
This generation is all over the place

This tiny ThinkPad can’t quite keep up with the MacBook Air M2
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 rear view showing lid and logo.

While the laptop industry continues to move toward 14-inch laptops and larger, the 13-inch laptop remains an important category. One of the best is the Apple MacBook Air M2, with an extremely thin and well-built chassis, great performance, and incredibly long battery life.

Lenovo has recently introduced the third generation of its ThinkPad X1 Nano, one of the lightest laptops we've tested and a good performer as well. It's stiff competition, but which of these two diminutive laptops stands apart?
