Sirius and Ford announced earlier in the year that the Ford motor company would be offering Sirius Satellite as an optional install in 21 vehicle lines through 2006 and 2007. That deal is expected to generate up to one million new customers for the satellite radio company over the next two years. With that deal signed, Sirius will become an option in nearly 90% of the vehicles under the Ford company umbrella by the year 2008.
Land Rover will begin offering Sirius as an optional install beginning in 2006. Volvo, Jaguar and Mazda, all Ford properties, currently offer Sirius Satellite radio to their customers.
As part of the agreement extension, Ford has the option to extend it even further to the year 2013 or the company may elect to become a non-exclusive partner in January 2009.
