Two new digital mini-DV camcorders from Canon announced today are promising to “offer stunning digital video and still performance in stylish form factors that beg to be held.†These two models, the 4.3 megapixel, $1,099 Optura 600 and the 2.2 megapixel, $799 Optura S1, are expected on store shelves in September.
The Optura 600’s highlights, Canon said, include its integrated ability to take digital photos which can be printed at up to 8.5 x 11 inches, its small form factor, 16:9 widescreen television video capture mode, 10x optical zoom/200x digital zoom, built in image stabilizer, a high end image processor and program auto exposure mode dial for a selection of different shooting modes.
As for the Optura S1, major features on this mini-DV camcorder include its integrated ability to take digital photos, a minimalist look, the ability to record widescreen video, a miniSD Card slot and a built-in photo flash and lens cover.
