Casio Announces New Exilim Digital Cameras

Casio today debuted some new additions to their Exilim line of digital cameras. The EX-Z110 and EX-Z120 will both be available in early to mid September for $279 and $329 respectively.

The six megapixel EX-Z110 and 7.2 megapixel EX-Z120, said Casio, share many features in common. They feature the Exilim line’s quick operating, low power image processing module, an anti-shaking function to reduce photo blurring caused by movement, auto macro and quick shutter functions to more properly focus photos, a high sensitivity mode to produce clearer shots with a bright background without the flash, a quick start function, a 2” TFT color LCD display, 3x optical zoom, a VGA video recording function and a compact design.

“The Z-110 and Z-120 is Casio’s solution to simplicity,” says John Clough, President of Casio, Inc. “It’s easy to use, making it perfect for people who don’t consider themselves “tech geeks”, and by the same token offers a graduate “manual” level that customers can switch to once they’ve become comfortable with all of our high quality technical features. These are easy-to-use high quality, affordable digital cameras, and Casio is proud to be able to offer the variety that we do in the digital camera arena.”

The best digital cameras
fujifilm x t4 review set 2 dm

When we picture the best cameras, we tend to focus on specs like continuous shooting speed, resolution, and autofocus performance. While those are important factors, I'd argue what truly makes a great camera is not something that comes through on a spec sheet. This is why I think the best digital camera is the Fujifilm X-T4 -- not because it has the most megapixels, the biggest sensor, or the fastest performance, but because more than any other camera, it inspired me to pick it up and shoot it.

That's not to say its spec sheet doesn't impress. The X-T4 is the most balanced camera I've ever used thanks to a combination of great image quality, solid performance, and excellent video features. But it doesn't win any one of those categories outright.

Sony a7iii

With four words, Sony Japan has disrupted its popular mirrorless Alpha series by teasing a newcomer. On Sony Japan’s Alpha series page, the header simply reads “new concept is coming” above the Alpha series symbol and the date: September 15 at 10:00, which translates to 9 p.m. ET on September 14. A video premiere is already scheduled on YouTube for the same time.

The vague announcement provided little detail but is already generating significant buzz.

The new Polaroid goes digital with the Bluetooth-enabled Polaroid Hi-Print

Polaroid’s iconic rainbow design is coming to instant printers after a merger kept the brand from fizzling out. On Monday, August 24, Polaroid launched the Hi-Print, a mobile printer that sports a classic color scheme, but spits out modern prints from a smartphone. The Polaroid Hi-Print is the company’s first digital product to launch after the company rebranded in March, marking the completion of the move from Polaroid, to Impossible Project’s buy out dubbed Polaroid Originals, to Polaroid again.

The Polaroid Hi-Print uses 2x3 paper-ink cartridges. Similar to Zink, the printer doesn't use separate ink cartridges. However, the Hi-Print is Polaroid's first printer that uses combo ink-paper cartridges instead of specialized paper with heat-activated dye. The Hi-Print cartridges print onto a water-resistant, sticky-back photo that’s roughly credit card sized.
