Epson today announced two new Stylus Photo six-color ink photo printers which are both set to hit the streets now. The R220 is priced at $99, while the R340 comes in at $199.
The R220 offers 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi and gives customers the ability to create customized CDs and DVDs with personalized text, graphics and photos via the printer’s front-loading tray. This printer offers borderless printing in sizes such as 4″ x 6″, 5″ x 7″, 8″ x 10″, and 8.5″ x 11″, uses individual ink cartridges, is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh systems and has front and back positioned USB ports.
The EPSON Stylus Photo R340 has the same CD/DVD printing and borderless photo printing as the R220. Unlike that printer however, this one has a 2.4″ LCD preview monitor, which enables customers to select, crop and print photos in full color without needing a computer. The front control panel has on-screen menus, with selectable options such as paper type, paper size and number of copies, as well as a “print by date” option. The panel also gives customers the ability to view photos with or without on-screen text, view and select photos using thumbnails and select a range of photos for printing.
Other features include the ability to save images to an external CD-R, Zip or flash memory drive and the option of direct printing from Bluetooth-enabled phones with an optional Bluetooth adapter currently available for around $69.
