Reader’s Digest, one of the most well known print publications in America, yesterday announced plans to start a monthly digital subscription version of its publication. The digital edition will become available starting tomorrow and is effective with the January 2006 issue.
The digital version, Reader’s Digest said, will mirror the print version of the magazine exactly and be immediately available for download to the Zino Reader application. Features include “a hyperlinked table of contents, search functions to find information within stories instantly, electronic post notes, an online highlighter pen, and an archived libraryâ€. A full year subscription is $13.98, or $2.99 for a single issue.
“It’s exciting for us to offer our readers access to Reader’s Digest where they want it, when they want it,” said Bonnie Bachar, President, U.S. Magazines, Reader’s Digest Association. “We are continuously looking at ways to optimize our content to meet the mobile lifestyle of today’s readers and the combination of technology and marketing savvy that Zinio offers are a real plus.”
