Alltel Shows Off New Kyocera Phones

Alltel, a cellular provider, and Kyocera today announced two new phones for users of the Alltel service. The Kyocera Slider Remix KX5, priced at $129.99 with a mail in rebate and two year service agreement, and the Kyocera Candid KX16, priced at $29.99 with a two year agreement, are both available now.

The Kyocera Slider Remix KX5 comes in a black handset and silver keypad combo which brings together the functions of a digital music player which plays MP3 and AAC music files and whose memory can be expanded, a 1.3 megapixel digital camera with built in flash and 5x digital zoom, video recorder functionality and wireless Bluetooth connectivity for hands free usage. The phone includes a color TFT display, pinwheel style user interface and a sliding faceplate.

The Kyocera Candid KX16, meanwhile, is a more common cell phone which includes a basic VGA camera with flash and digital zoom, speakerphone and productivity tools such as a scheduler and alarm clock.

“These new phones expand our customers’ choices, offer the latest features and at very competitive prices,” said Wade McGill, vice president of wireless product management at Alltel.

Motorola's upcoming flagship phone, the Motorola Edge Plus, has been leaked again. But unlike previous leaks, the 3D renders are good enough to give us a really close look at Motorola's next huge phone.

These latest leaks come from render-flinging leaker Evan Blass, and show the device from a number of angles -- and in red and blue color variants. The waterfall-like display that gives the device its name is immediately obvious, and the screen appears to curve dramatically down the edge, toward the back of the device. Side views show the curve stretches almost to the middle of the phone's thickness.

While the likes of Samsung and Motorola have their own thoughts about what's next for foldable phones, TCL has a vision of its own -- and its vision is a little different from the rest. Turns out, the leaked images from a few weeks ago were correct -- the company does indeed have a phone with a display that seemingly stretches as needed.

It's currently only a concept, and of course, the display doesn't actually stretch. Instead, it rolls into the back of the phone to make for a 6.75-inch display when in the "closed" position, and unrolls into a larger 7.8-inch display when in the "open" position. It sounds confusing, but thankfully TCL has released a short video showing off how it would work.
