Research published yesterday by a Canadian research firm tells an interesting tale about Xbox 360 sales on eBay. Terapeak, the firm behind the research, has been analyzing data about eBay trends since the beginning of last year.
Terapeak’s research suggests that in the first week after the Xbox 360’s launch, the next generation gaming platform was selling at a rate of 1 every 13 seconds during peak times. Over $23 million worth of Xbox 360s were sold during this period on the online auction website.
The data analyzed revealed that there was an average of 19 bids per successful listing, with over 586,035 bids being placed on 39,562 systems. The success rate for Xbox 360s listed on eBay was 78.2%, with the average selling price being $718 per unit.
Since the first week of sales, Terapeak added, demand has dropped to an average of 15 bids per successful listing. The success rate and average price also dropped to 75.4% and $702 respectively.
