Plasma television promotion in the United States got a major shot in the arm today as five of the largest TV panel manufacturers announced they’d united under a coalition to “encourage understanding of the benefits and future potential of plasma TVâ€.
The new Plasma Display Coalition, which has retained former Sony and Aiwa senior executive Jim Palumbo as its president, has as its founding members Hitachi Home Electronics, LG Electronics USA, Panasonic Corporation of North America, Pioneer Electronics (USA) and Samsung Electronics USA.
Palumbo said that the Coalition will conduct performance and testing projects which are designed to help consumers better understand the benefits of plasma TV.
“The effort of the Coalition is to promote the growth of plasma TV in the U.S., respond to consumer and retailer desires for more accurate information on plasma TV, and correct myths about plasma TV’s affordability and features,” said Palumbo.
