XM Satellite Radio today announced they would be showcasing a concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week which shows off XM Advanced Services. The vehicle itself is a specially-equipped 2006 Lexus LX 470.
The XM Advanced Services vehicle, said XM, will showcase in-car video from technology partner On2 Technologies. This in-car video content, which can be streamed or stored for later use, is delivered via the same satellite technology which brings in XM’s radio feeds. Additionally, a voice command system designed by VoiceBox Technologies will be showcased which allows drivers the ability to control their XM experience with their voice so that their hands never have to leave the steering wheel.
Other concept technologies being showed off include a system that delivers advanced warning of weather related driving conditions in real time, stream data displays of stock quotes and sport scores and a navigation system which helps drivers find available parking spaces in a lot.
