Video game accessory maker dreamGear, at CES 2006 in early January, announced a new line of speakers for the iPod family as well as Sony’s PlayStation Portable handheld video game system. The company named this product line i.Sound.
Amongst the eight speaker sets announced, several standout. The most notable of these is the i.Sound Max Portable Speaker System. Targeted towards iPod users, this docking station style system comes with a full function remote control. It has a tubular casting design, can be powered by an included AC adapter or 4 AA batteries, digital volume control and bass enhancement control. It is priced at $129.95 and should be available in March 2006.
Another notable i.Sound system is the $59.95 i.Sound 4X for nano. Exclusively designed for the iPod nano, it features 4x micro drivers. The structured casing allows the nano to rest inside, even when the speakers are folded up. These speakers have a custom blue glowing effect and will be available in March 2006.
Rounding out the more interesting of the i.Sound line up is the $59.95 i.Sound Drive-In Cinema Speaker System with Remote Control. Available in March like the other two systems, this particular i.Sound is designed for the PSP. It features 4x built-in micro drivers, a wired remote control, two headphone inputs and two pairs of headphones. It is designed to be used in a car and should securely attach to any car’s headset.
