Consumer electronics company Panasonic, like rivals Sony and Samsung, was busy with new television announcements at CES 2006 earlier this month. Panasonic’s most interesting news in this area was their six new HD plasma TVs.
Headlining this HD plasma line up is the 65†TH-65PX600U, which is set to be available this summer. Joining this 1920 x 1080p resolution television at Panasonic’s top plasma tier are the 50†TH-50PX600U (spring – $4,199.95) and 42†TH-42PX600U (spring – $3,199.95). Features in this model line include built in NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuners, a CableCard slot, on screen TV Guide electronic program guide, a SD memory card slot for viewing photos directly from a digital camera, PC input and HDMI inputs with HDAVI Control.
A step below these native resolution plasma panels are the 50†TH-50PX60U (spring – $3,699.95), 42†TH-42PX60U (spring – $2,699.95) and 37†TH-37PX60U ($2,199.95). These three models share many of the same features as the previously mentioned plasmas, but lack a CableCard slot and the TV Guide on screen programming guide.
Rounding out this line up is the 42†TH-42PD60U, a ED set which should be available in the spring for $1,999.95.
